SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 766,220, dated August 2, 1904.

Be it known that I, ADoLru H. Conn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Hose-Supporter, of which the following is a description.

My invention relates to hose-supporters; and it consists of certain novel parts and combinations of parts particularly pointed out in the claims concluding this specification.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 illustrates a supporter involving my present invention. Fig. 2 shows a modified form of the same.

The following is a description of the hosesupporters shown in the drawings, which illustrate forms in which I at present prefer to embody my invention. It will, however, be understood that various modifications and changes may be made in the details of the same without departing from the spirit of my invention and without exceeding the scope of the concluding claims.

Referring to Fig. 1, 3 3 3 is a pad made of either elastic or inelastic material in three parts, which are joined by laces 4 l, which may be of either elastic or inelastic material, passing through eyelets 5 5. 6 is a belt attached to the upper side of one section of the pad 3 and may be adjusted and secured by means of the buckle 7, attached to upper edge of another section of the pad 3. 3 8 8 8 are hose-supymrting tapes attached to the bottom of the pad 3 3 3 and are provided with buckles 9 9 9 9 and clasps 10 1O 1O 10 of the ordinary construction.

The modification shown in Fig. 2 differs from the construction of 1 in that the pad 3 3 is composed of two sections.

Hose-supporters comprising an integral pad supported by a belt passing around the waist and sustaining hose-supporting tapes attached to its lower edge are well known. These pads, however, do not always fit the body or the corsets of the wearer without wrinkles, and the strains of supporting the stockings or of suppressing the abdomen are not always equally applied to all portions of the pad. For the purpose of overcoming this difiiculty the pad instead of being made integral has been made of a plurality of parts, with hinge connections at the top and bottom only to permit the parts to have independent vertical play, as described in patent to Hammond, No. GS LSH. In my improved construction, in which eyelets and a lace or laces are employed, any desired degree of independence of motion can be provided for by drawing the laces tighter or looser, which laces afford an adjustable means of fitting the pad to the body, while at the same time the strains on the pad are by them automatically equalized and evenly distributed between the different parts of the pad. \Vhcn the laces are made of elastic material, as I prefer to make them, still greater flexibility is attained, and the pad has a still greater capacity for accommodating itself to and following the various positions assumed by the wearer.

In the foregoing specification I have illustrated and described as a means of support for the pad a belt passing around the waist of the wearer; but it will be understood that any other suitable means of support may be substituted therefor.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In a hose-supporter, the combination with suitable means of support and stockingsupporting tapes, of a pad composed of a plurality of sections secured together by elastic laces.

2. In a hose-supporter the combination with suitable means of support and stockingsupporting tapes of a pad composed of a plurality of inelastic sections secured together by elastic laces.

3. A hose-supporter comprising two abdominal pads, hose-supporting straps and a belt secured thereto, and an elastic lacingcord connecting the two pads along their adjacent edges.
