PATENT FFICE,
JAMES LINCOLN UBELLAR, OF KANKAKEE, ILLINOIS.
SUSPENDER ATTACHMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 757,073, dated April 12, 1904.
Application filed August 1, 1903.
To on whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, JAMES LINCOLN UBEL- LAR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kankakee, in the county of Kankakee and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspender Attachments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. V
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in suspender attachmen s, and comprises, in combination with a snap-hook, an adjustable tape or strap secured to one end of the shank portion thereof and a tape which is connected to .a ring adapted to be held by a Suspender-end so constructed that it will easily apply to the suspender and be adjusted for holding the garments at'different positions with relation to the suspender.
The invention will be herein after fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim, and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved suspender attachment shown as applied to a suspender and engaging a garment. Fig. 2 is a slight modification showing a tape or strap secured to the shank of the fastener.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a strap, of any suitable material, which is passed through a'ring B, which is pivotally connected to the fastener C, or, if preferred, a tape may pass through a slot in the shank portion of the fastener, as illustrated in Fig. 2 0f the drawings; and D designates a ring through which a strap is passed and the ends of the strap held by means of a suitable buckle E, whereby the strap may be adjusted to hold the fastener in different positions with relation to the ring.
The suspender (designated by letter M) has.
Serial No. 167,910. (No model.)
a rectangular eye M secured to one end thereof, through which one end of the strap N is" passed and held thereto by means of a stud member K, over which a socket member N, near the free end of said strap, is adapted to engage for the purpose of holding the ring D and the cord Q, having loops Q at its ends. When adjusting said ring and cord Q in place, the end of the strap N is inserted through the ring and the cord inserted intermediate the stud K and the ring, so that the cord will bear upon a portion of the circumference of the ring when in use, and in order to hold the parts in operative positions the socket member N on the end of the strap is caught over the stud K.
By the provision of a device embodying the features of my invention it will be observed that a garmentsupporting device may be easily and quickly applied to or removed from the suspender and may be adjusted to hold the garment.
While I have shown a particular construction of garment-supporting device, it will be understood that the details may be varied as to shape of the ring, holder, 860., without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
' In combination with a Suspender-strap end, an elongated eye fastened thereto, a strap passed through said eye, a stud fastening said strap to the eye, a socket member near one end of the strap adapted to engage over said stud to form a loop, a ring in the loopforrned by said strap, a cord resting on a portion of the circumference of said ring, a clasp suspended from said ring, the latter and said cord being held in operative positions by said loop, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES LINCOLN UBELLAR.
