- My improvement relates particularly to devices adapted to be located within the neck of a bottle or other similar receptacle for the purpose of preventing dilution, adulteration, or refilling. NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 756,324, dated April 5, 1904.

To a/ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN BREUNIG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My improvement relates particularly to devices adapted to be located within the neck of a bottle or other similar receptacle for the purpose of preventing dilution, adulteration, or refilling. Its objects are, among others, to provide a device of this character which will be of simple, strong, and durable construction and which may be easily made in parts and assembled and which at the same time will act as a closure and prevent accidental spilling or evaporation of the contents, thus dispensing with the use of a cork or other stopper after the bottle has been opened. It is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, referred to herein, and in which- Figure lis a vertical medial section of a bottle-top, showing my improvement, certain movable parts being shown in full. Fig. 2 is a detail of the piece which is adapted to be fitted into the bottle-neck extension. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2 looking downwardly.
The neck of the bottle A terminates in an outwardly-extending annular flange B, which affords a seat for the valve-disk C, having the downwardly-extending arm C and weight C2 at the lower end thereof. A round bossed portion C3, with beveled edges, is located centrally on the upper surface of the disk C and serves to prevent the ball D from movingdiainetrically over the same, confining it to the annular space between the outer portion of the disk and the diaphragm E above the same, the space between the boss C3 and diaphragm E being less than the diameter of the ball.
The cylindrical wall of the bottle-neck N extends upwardly from the flange B on substantially vertical lines to form with said flange acup or holder for the separable neckpiece J. This neck-piece comprises the diaphragm E, the imperforate disk F of lesser diameter than said diaphragm and connected therewith by posts G, and the upper portion Serial No. 170,692. (No model.)
J', with annular grooves K and L, 'flange P, and gatechannel J 2. The said upper portion J is connected to the disk F by posts H and is provided with a central bore M, which affords an outlet for the liquid from the bottle.
The Wall N is provided with an annular swelled portion O opposite the grooves K Vand L, so that the cement or other like substance I when poured in between them will form a key to secure the neck-piece in position in the cup. A lip R is also provided at the upper edge of the cup to receive the fiange P and sustain the neck-piece in position until the cement has set.
The gate J 2 is provided for the purpose of allowing the said cement to be poured in between the walls N of the cup and the neckpiece.
I prefer to cast the neck-pieceJ in one piece, of glass or other suitable substance, as shown in Fig. 2, thereby simplifying itsmanufacture, adding strength and solidity, and expediting the assemblage of the parts.
The bottle may be filled in the first instance before the valve and neck-piece are placed in position or by means of the cord or wire X, Which may be employed to raise the valvedisk C after having been inserted, as shown in Fig. l, before the parts are assembled. If the cord or wire is used, it is withdrawn after fillirg, and the bottle cannot thereafter be lille The liquid fiowing from the bottle passes between the disk C andits seat, around the edges of the disk, through the central opening E', around the edges of the disk F, and finally out through the channel M.
What I claim isl. A non-refillable bottle comprising a neck, a shoulder thereon, a valve-disk adapted to rest upon the said shoulder when in a horizontal positioma centrally-depending arm on said disk, a weight on the end of said arm, a
ball adapted to be superimposed on said disk, a diaphragm above said disk, a central raised portion on said disk and an extension of the neck inclosing said ball, disk and diaphragm; the space between the raised portion of the disk and the diaphragm being less than the diameter of the ball.
2. A non-refillable bottle comprisinga neck,
