Description

,uiten faire aient @.ffist E. A. eoonns, o i1v PHILADELRHM, PENNSYLVANIA, AssIeNon To HIMSELF, E. L. 'MILLERAND W, H. Monreal), o F SAMEPLACE.
'Laim Patent No. 75,541, deze@ March 17, 186s.
IPROVED FUNNEL AND GRATBP..
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGER'N:
i Beit known that I, E. A. GODES, of Philadelphia, in the,- county of Philadelphia, andiState of Pennsylvenia, have invented a newand improved Combination Funnel and (Jiraterl and I do hereby declare. that the fol-lowingv is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, which wpiilvenable those skilled in the art to'make andl use thesanie, 'reiference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, formingpart of this specicatiou.
This'inven'tion relates to the peculiar construction cfa Vfunnel, whereby it is adapted to various purposes; audit consists in so vforming and constructingv the article, by coirugating, serrati'ng, and punching, that it'is made applicable4 to a variety of vus'esfas will be hereinafter described. i Figure 1 represents an outsidel longitudinal vieivof the funnel,v showing-the manner of its construction.
Figure 2 isl 2in-fend vie-w, looking towards the `end of the nozzle.4 Similar letters of reference indicate correspondingparts.l
A is the funnel-basin, and B is the tubeor nozzle. I C is the handle.. The upper portion or rin: of thel funnel-basin. is corrugated. By forming `the top of the funnel in this manner,Y a good cake-'cutter is provided.
vThe end'of thenozzle B, it will be noticed, is serrated, as seen'V at e. By this formation'a goed apple-corel` is produced. i p v A y By holding the funnel in the hand by the nozzle B, and rolling the corrugated ,upper part of the funnel-- basinf over the crustoff'ajpie, it becomes a good crimper with whidh to ornament the pie.- The handle C is dropped downtfrom thefeorrugated edgef, for Vthis purpose, as seen.
The under side ef the handle ispunched, so as to form a grater, vas seen at g; for grating corn' when the, v kernels are att-achedtoi'the ear,or for grating hrseiadish and other similar articles. his a. wing attached to' p or forming a part of the handle, as seen inthe drawingy Af'portion oi" the edge of this wirigis serrated. By ,passing an ear of corn through the ringJ ofv the handle, and at the same time turning the car, the `corn will be separated' from' the cob thoroughlyhy the'eutters at the serrated edge.
It will thus be seen that, by constructing a. funnelas described, it is made useful for a variety of purposes, and at a very slight increase in the expense, as compared with' the ordinary funnel.
Having. thu's described my invention,4 I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The corrugated rimf, around the top of the tunnel, and the serrated edge e of the nozzle B, in combi nation within. funnel, substantially as and for the purposes described.
' 2. The handle C, withthe perforations ongra'tcr g, andthe wing L, withr the serrated edge, in combination with aV funnel, substantially as and for'the purposes v'set fOrth.
i E. A. GOODES.
