CHURN AND EGG-BEATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 741,946, dated October 20, 1903. Application filed June 28, 1901. Serial No. 66.4l3. (No model.)
[[0 aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OAnsTEN TRUELSEN,re-.
The object of my invention is to provide a,
churn mechanism adapted to be secured to any suitable crock, jar, or pail and embodies certain adjustable features, described more fully hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawingsl have shown in Figure 1 a side elevation, with portions broken away,of a combination churn and eg beater embodying my invention, while Fig. 2 shows a top view of my improvement as socured to an ordinary crock.
In carrying out the aim of my invention, which is to provide a dasher mechanism adapted to be adj ustably and detachably secured to a suitable vessel, I construct a supporting-plate 2, which is provided with suitable slots 00 a; and has an upward extension 3, as is shown in the drawings. This upward extension 3 is provided with a central slot 4 and a rack-face 5, as will be noticed in referring to Fig. 1. Pivotally secured by means of two bolts 27,which work through the slots to and held by means of the nuts 70, are the striding keepers 26, through which pass the screws 30, so that by means of these keepers the mechanism is secured to a suitable crock A, as is shown in Fig. 1, for instance. These keepers 26 working through the slots w permit the mechanism to be adjusted to a crock of any suitable size.
Secured adj ustably to the upward rack or notch-faced extension 3 is a horizontally-disposed bar 8,provided with the bearing b,which bearing 5 revolubly supports a driving-shaft 13, as shown. The bar Sis provided with the slot at and is also provided with a ridge adapted to register with the notches within the bar 3, sothat this bar 8, provided with the bearing b,can be raised upward or downward and shoved inward or outward, being held by means of a bolt- 6, working upon a suitable Washer 7, as is clearly shown. This bar 8 is provided with a laterally-extending flange 9 upon one side, to which flange is secured the substantially U-shaped frame 12, this frame being secured by means of the rivets 10, as shown.
Secured to the d living-shaft 13,yvhich passes through the bearing 1), is a gear-wheel 14:, whichmeshes with the pinions 15 and 16, as shown. The gear-wheel 14 is provided with a hub c and by means of a pin 0 is secured totube 17 is a gear-wheel15, ad justably secured thereto by means of the screw 6, so that this tube 17is kept from sliding outward by means of this screw dwhich passes through the hub of the pinion 15. Extending longitudinally through this tube 17 and revolubly held there in is the shaft 23,which above passes through the upper end of the frame 12 and through the upper pinion 16, which pinion 16 is adjustably secured to the dasher-shaft 23 by means of the screw j. This dasher-shaft 23 is made to project a suitable distance beyond upward or downward relative to the frame 12, as may also the sliding tube 17, to which tube below is secured the dasher-frame 20 by means of the screw 18, this dasher-frame below being provided with a hub 21, through which the dasher-shaft 23 extends, which is provided with an adjustable dasher 25, held by means of the screw 24. By this arrangement this device may be used either as an eggbeater in a shallow dish in carrying both the sliding sleeve and dasher-shaft upward and carrying the bearing upward or be used as a dasher in a deep vessel in bringing the bearing 1) downward and carrying and'extending the shaft and slidingtube outward.
the frame 12, so that this shaft 23 may be slid The invention is noticeable because of its simplicity, and, 7
Having thus described my said invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is-
1. In a device of the class described, the combination with a supporting-plate having means for detachably connecting the same to a receptacle and provided with a verticallydisposed slotted extension one face of which is notched or serrated, of a horizontally-disposed bar associated with said extension and extending across the same, said bar having a longitudinal slot therein, a bolt arranged in the slots of said extension and bar for clamping the bar in engagement with the notched or serrated face of the extension and permitting adjustment of the bar vertically and laterally with respect to said extension, a vertically-disposed flange carried by said bar, a supporting-frame connected to said flange, dasher mechanism carried by said frame, and means carried by said bar for operating said dasher mechanism.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination with a supporting-plate having means for detachably connecting the same to a receptacle and provided with a verticallydisposed slotted extension one face of which is notched or serrated, of a horizontally-disteases face of the extension and permitting adjustment of the bar vertically and laterally with respect to said extension, a vertically-disposed flange carried by said bar, asupporting-frame connected to said flange, dasher mechanism carried by said frame, a shaft journaled in the bearing of said horizontal bar and geared to the dasher mechanism, and means for operating said shaft.
3. In a device of the class described, the combination with a supporting-plate having means for detachably connecting the same to a receptacle and provided with a verticallydisposed slotted extension one face of which is notched or serrated, of a horizontally-disposed bar associated with said extension and extending across the same, said bar having a longitudinal slot therein and also provided with a bearing, a bolt arranged in the slots of said extension and bar for clamping the bar in engagement with the notched or serrated face of the extension and permitting adjustment of the bar vertically and laterallywith respect to said extension, a vertically-disposed flange carried by said bar, a supporting-frame connected to said flange, dasher mechanism carried by said frame and adjustable relatively thereto, a shaft journaled in the bearing of said horizontal bar and geared to the dasher mechanism, and means for operating said shaft.
