As ordinary steam nndwnter-valves are constructed, it' is n matteiof considerable labor-und expense, to say nothing ofivexstious'delnys, I'vhen out of repair, toremove thevnlvefor vthe purpose of repairing it,rasiit is necessary to remove the whole shell from the pipes.- l
By my invention, when any foreign substance should get between the valve and its sent, or from n'uy other conse the valve should refuse to oct, I am enabled quickly and easily to withdraw the plug by u. slight hlowupon its smaller end, remove the obstruction, andinsert theplug in'its'placein the shell. If from puy cause'itmay l J h'emdesirahle to remove a. check-valve, undf use, instead, thrttlevalve, I simply remove the check-vlve plug andinsert in its place a. throttle-vulve plug, which is 'a matter of little or no trouble, while in other va-lvssuch a change is a matter'of much diliculty, and attended withV more or less labor and expense; y
