Be it known that I, DAVID PETTICREW, of Westville, in the county of Ghampaign, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Garden-Ploughs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, in which- 7 Figure 1 is a perspective view, and

Figure 2 is a side elevation.

The same letters are employed in both figures in the indication of parts which are identical.

The object of this invention is the construction of aplough particularly designed for use in ploughing gardens, and my improvements relate to the general arrangement of the parts, as will appear from the follpwing description:

I use a shovel-plough, A, which is attached to the standard by a nut, A, on a bolt passing from the top of the plough through the standard B. The standard passes through a mortise in the rear end of the brace-beam G, against which it is braced by the brace D. The upper end of the standard is fastened to across-brace, F, extending between the handles E, which, inclining downwards, are attached to the front of the beam 0. On the front end of the beam 0, I attach, by similar boxes, thejonrnals of the axle of the wheel G, which revolves in a slot in the front of the beam, as shown. This wheel is set high enough to give the plough an average depth of cut when the beam is horizontal. The cut may be regulated by raising or depressing the handles to set the plough more or less deeply in the earth, according to circumstances. As the plough is intended to beoperated only in light soil, it may be pushed by hand.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A garden-plough, constructed with a single shovel, A, standard B, handles E, beam G, and wheel G, said parts being respectively constructed and arranged substantially as set forth.
