COMPOSITION OF MATTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 729,036, dated May 26, 1903.
Application filed August 5,1902. Serial No. 118,443. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GUIDO BLENIO, a citizen of Austria,residing at New York,iu the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Composition of Matter, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My new and useful composition of matter consists of a solution designed for use as a paint or varnish for protecting wood and other substances or materials from fire or for rendering the same fireproof; and my composition consists of the following ingredients" combined in the proportion specified, namely:
lipnid glass, one gallon; borax, one-quarter "poun water, one pint.
In preparing my improved composition or solution from these ingredients I first dissolve the borax in the water. I then mingle the lit 11nd glass therewith, and said ingredients are thoroughly stirred or agitated, so as to cause a com plete mingling therIe of or form a homogeneous iquid product. his liquid product is applied to the wood or other material which it is desired to render. fireproof by means of a brush in the manner of an ordinary paint, or it may be applied in any doan as t sired manner, or the wood or other material 0 may be immersed therein, and after being thoroughly dried said wood or other material will be fireproof and will only char when subjected to very high or unusual degrees of heat. I, I am aware that borax and waterlasshave 7' heretofore been employed in a solution (19- 4 signed to serve as a fireproof paint; but I'am Y not aware and do not believe all the ingredients of my invention have heretofore been employed for the purpose and in the manner specified.

The herein-described composition of mattor for' use as-a fireproof paint for wood or other material, consisting of liquid glass one gallon, bonax ope-quarter pound, and water/ one pint, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
