GEORGE W, HOSKIN, I OF- PHILADELPHIA, PENNS YLVANIA.
Letters Patent No. 72,736, dated December 31,=18G7r IMPROVED wGoN-BODY.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY .CONCERN Be it known that I, GEORGE W. HOSKIN, of 'the city and county of Philadelphia., and State of Pennsylvftnia, have invented an Improved Wagon for Lumber, Coal, and other heavy materials; and I (lo-hereby declare that the following is a. full-and exuct description the'r'eot', reference being had to 'the drztwings accompanying, making part of this specification, and representing my improved wagon.
The nature of my invention consists in making the bot'tom of the wagon-body inclined toward the real' end, substantially as vhereineftcr specified. f i
In the drawings, A. represents the body of the wagon or cart, B the front, and C the hind Wheels. The bottom, D, of the body, is inclined toward the reztr end, suhstantinlly es represcnted. To efi'ect'this ormngement, the rear'end of the wagon-body may rest directly on the hnd axle, es nsual, while the front end is supported bysuitable bolster-framing, G, as indicnted, so ns to bring the body, at this end, to the height required. The sides of the wagon-body may be level, s shown. I
The advantages of this construction, especially for heavy articles, are obvious. The rear end of the wagonbody is brought considercbly lower than usual, rendering it much ensier to load and unload the articles or goods. At the same time they ride a-s well as on a. horizontal bottom, especially if hound on, as hulky articles, o! trigged, as barrels or other articles liable to roll back. I
What I claim as'my invention, end desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The inclined wagon-body D, arrztnged suhstantially as and for the purpose hcrein specified.
GEORGE W. HOSKIN.
