Description
@einen tstrs gatrnt @fitta WILLISTON AK. FULLER, OF MODENA, ILLINOIS. Lettera-Patent No. 72,474, dated December 24, 1867.
IMPRVED APPARATUS FOR VENTILATING MILLSTONBS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, WILLISTON K. FULLER, of Modena, in the county of Stark, State of Illinois, have invented a nenr and improved Mode of Introducing a Current of Air between Millstones while running, thereby preventing the stones and flour from heating, and increasing the quantity and improving the quality of' the Hour made. v
I do hereby declare that the following is'n full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the drawings accompanying, and to the let-ters of reference marked thereon- Figure l being a. view of the upper surface f the stone.
Figure 2 a transverse section of the same, and
Figure 3 a View of the under surface.
The construction and operation of my invention are as follows: The scroll-wing A is attached to the top of the millstone, and the tapering tube I3 connecting with said wing, passes to and down the eye of the stone for a certain portion of its length, indicated at C, iig. 2. Entering `the substance of the stone at this peint at an angle, the tube opens on the under surface of the stone ashort distance from the eye, in the direction of the leading furroi'vs, as will be seen in fig. 3, E. T
The working` of my invention is evident. The scrollwing A is so 'formed that in revolving with the stone it gathers air, which, by its rapid motion, is forced through the tube B doivn into the eye, and discharged between the stones in the direction of the leading furrowsg The current of' air thus continually forced between the stones keeps them cool, prevents moisture, increases largely the amount ground in a given time, and makes more and better flour from the same quality of wheat. U
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The millstone G, provided with the scroll-'wing A and tube B, so arranged that the tube -will pass down tue eye of the stone a certain portion of its length, and through 'the corner at an angle, so as to open on the face of the stone a short distance from the eye, constructed and operating substantially as herein indicated.
WILLISTON K. FULLER.
