Be it known that I, FRANZ MOSTERTS, inerchant, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Berlin, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improvementin Apparatus for Moistening the Scalp, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention has for its object to provide convenient means for moistening the scalp with medicinal and other liquids Without unnecessarily affecting the hair.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section, Fig. 2 a side view, and Fig. 3 an end view, of the scalp-moistener embodying my invention.

The device chiefly comprises a tube or hollow plate S, made of hard rubber or other suitable material and provided in front with a comb-shaped enlargement, the teeth of which may be straight or curved and are hol low, so as form thin tubes to conduct liquid to the scalp. tween the comb-shaped member or enlargement and the tube S is by means of screwthreads, so that the device can be readily taken apart for cleansing purposes and as readily assembled. Furthermore, the tube S, extending into the bulb or ball, prevents the latter from collapsing or being entirely compressed, prevents the compressing of the bulb or ball, excepting on the sides, and at the same time serves to form a steadying or directing part or handle by means of which the movement of the comb-shaped member can be readily controlled, enabling the application of pressure longitudinally of the tube, and yet having a substantially yielding portion in contact with the hand of the operator. The rear part of the tube S extends into "a soft india-rubber ball B and is attached to the same. Immediately behind the flange of the tube S, which serves as an abutment to the rubber ball or other elastic receptacle, the tube has a small perforation, through which the liquid sucked into the ball may enter the comb-shaped extremity of the tube and. the distributing-tubes Z. Subsequently the tines are passed between the hairs onto the place of the scalp which is to be treated, a portion of the liquid is pressed out of the tines, and the operation is repeated at other places of the scalp until the entire scalp has been uniformly moistened, while the hairs remain dry.

Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of the said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is An apparatus of the character described comprising a comb-shaped member having hollow teeth, said member having also a screw-threaded opening formed in its upper side, said opening communicating with the hollow teeth; a hollow tube, having its upper end closed, the lower end being screw-threaded to fitwithin said screw-threaded opening, said tube having a radial and relatively small perforation, and also having an annular flange; and a compressible and distensible ball or bulb having a single opening removably secured between the top of said combshaped member and said flange, said bulb entirely inclosing said tube, substantially as described.
