GARMENT-SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 703,350, dated June 24, 1902.
Application filed February 21, 1902. Serial No. 95,038. (Nomodel-l To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLYDE S. NONNEMAOHER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in a garment-supporter and it consists of abody portion having means for attaching the same to a garment and for supporting the same on the wearer.
Figure 1 represents an elevation of a garmentsupporter embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a side elevation thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a garment-supporter having a body portion 13, in which is a slot 0, and depending from said body portion are the fingers D and E, which are slightly curved from said body portion at F, and between said fingers is an arm G, which projects from said body portion and is curved, as at H, and the lower portion of which is bent and provided with a finger or bent-up portion K, the lower end of the portions J and K being curved, as at L, in a direction opposite to the curve H, attention being called to the fact that the lower portions of the fingers D and E are curved away from said finger G, as at M, it being also noticed that the slots N and P are formed between the arm G and the fingers D and E, respectively, and that the slot Q, is formed between the portions J and K of the arms G. The up per portion of the garment-supporter is inclined, as at R, with respect to the arm and fingers, and the slot 0 extends in the body portion at substantially thesame angle as the inclination of the part B. It will be noticed that the slots P and N and slot 0 and the slot Q will stand at different angles with respect to each other.
The operation is as follows: Elastic or other suitable material is secured to the body portion through the slot 0 and after passing around the leg of the wearer is inserted in the slots N and P between the fingers D and E and the arm G, so that the garment-supporter is held in position, while a portion of the garment to be supported enters into the slot Q between the portions J and K, and is thereby supported, it being seen that this device obviates the sewing on of buttons and the use of clips, and that it can be quickly and easily manipulated, and that it is durable.
It will be evident that changes may be made by those skilled in the art which will come within the scope of my invention, and I do not, therefore, desire to be limited in every instance to the exact construction herein shown and described.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is i 1. In a garment-supporter, a body portion formed with a slot in the upper portion thereof, an arm projecting therefrom, fingers projecting from said body portion on opposite sides of said arm, the latter formed with a slot to receive the garment.
2. In a garment-supporter, a body portion formed with a slot in the upper portion thereof, an arm projecting therefrom, fingers projecting from said body portion on opposite sides of said arm and forming slots between said fingers and said arm and an end portion on said arm forming a slot between the same and said arm.
3. In a garment-supporter, a body portion, an arm projecting therefrom, a bend in said arm, said arm formed with slots on both sides thereof adjacent said body portion and having a slot at the lower portion thereof and a bend in said arm at the lower portion thereof extending in a direction opposite to the firstmentioned bond.
4. In a garment-supporter, a body portion, an arm projecting therefrom having V a slot situated in the lower portion thereof and having slots adjacent said body portion and said body portion being formed with a slot extending at an angle to said first-mentioned,slots.
5. In a garment-supporter,a bodyportion formed with a slot therein, an arm projecting from said body portion and having slots on both sides thereof adjacent said bodyportion and having a slot formed in the lower portion thereof, the upper edge of said body portion being inclined with respect to said arm and said first-mentioned slot extending in a direction substantially parallel to that of the inclination of the upper edge of said body portion.
6. In a garment-supporter, a body portion formed with a slot, an arm projecting from said body portion and formed with slots on both sides thereof and having a slot in the lower portion, the slot in the body portion and in the lower portion of the arm extending at an angle to each other and both of the same extending at different angles with respect to the slots on both sides of the arm.
7. In a garment-supporter, a body portion having a slot therein, and an arm projecting therefrom, the lower portion of which is at an angle to the upper portion thereof, said arm being formed with slots on both sides and a 9. In a garment-supporter, a body portion formed with slots therein and a slot in the upper part thereof, extending at an angle to the first-mentioned slots, and having a slot below said first-mentioned slots adapted to receive a garment.
