TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CQNCERN:
Be it known'that I, T. H. BELLARD, of Colbrook, in the county of Ashtabula., and State of Ohio, have l invented certain new and useful Improvements in Field-Fences; und I do hereby declare that the lfollowing is a. full and complete description of the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of the fence.
Figure 2 is a view of the top. Y l y Like letters of reference referto like parts in the views. y
This fence is constructed of ordinary fence-boards A, iig. l, which may be more or less in number, accord ing to the required' height of the fence. These yboards are set up edgewise, Iand the ends of each panel of boards 'made to cross each other, as shown in Viig. 2. In the angles thus formed by lapping theends of the boards are stakes B,lig. 1, and whichare-bound together by va yoke, C, one at each end of the stakes, and by'which means the cornersof the fence are firmly locked together, and the boards kept in their edgevwise position. I-n order ,l to give .still more security to the corners, a deep notch, D, is cut in the edge of the upper and lowest board, in
which the end of the board of the adjoining panel is fitted. The upper and lower range of boards being thus notched into each other, all the rest of the boards arrangedv between them are the more firmly retained from l being displaced. Also, thefence is still further braced and strengthened by the rail E, which is made to pass longitudinally through the centre of the panels, us shown in lig. 2, and which is nailed or otherwise secured to the cleats F, thereby giving to the whole structure great strength and durability. Y
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The special arrangement of the boards A, stakes. B, yoke C, and rail E, in the manner as and for the purpose set forth.
T. H. BELLARD.
