Be it known that I, ROBERT W'. SUPER, of thc city of Janesville, in the county of Rock, and State of Wiscousin, have inventedV a new and improved Mop-Wringer; and I do hereby de'ela'rc that the following is a full andeiract description thereof, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure `1 is an elevation or side view, showing the rolls ih ,position ready fet' wringing. Figure 2 is also an elevation or side view, showing the devieein the act of wringing. Figure 3 is a yview from the back or inner side of 'the cam-piece E, operating-levers D and D', and guide support F; and V i Figure 1 is a view'from the back or inner side of the cam-piece E detached.
The nature of my linvention relates to that 4class of mop-wringers that have two parallel wringing-rolls attached to a pail or tub, 'and consists in supporting them on the upper ends of four operating-levers that are arranged in pairs on either side of the pail, each pair having a common central plvot like a pair of shears, and being operated by a vertical moving cam-piece attached to a treadle, the cam-piece having twoifixed cam-pins working separately in cam-groove in the lower end of each member of'A the pair, lsubstantially as described.
To enable 'others skilled in the art to-make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the drawings, represents the pail or tub, and C and C the two parallel wringing-rolls. These rolls are placed horizontally with reference to each other, and take bearing at cach end in the upper ends of the with the cam-groovesf and the latter with the cani-pins h) ,A cam-piece shall operate the wringing-rolls C and C', substantially as described.
A or mortise e, substantially as andfor the purposedescribed D D', and spring M, when the whole are'c operating-levers D( that are coupled together in pairs on each side of the pail, each pair havingr a common central 'pivotb, like a pair of shears. The lower end of each operating-lever is picrcedor eut with a camgroove,f, in which plays a campin,.h, figs. 3 and 4, of the cam-piece E that is attached by tho pivot pin a? to the treadle G. The treadle il provided-withia'foobpiece, H, on which the foot is applied to operate the rolls, and is divided at the foot-piece.into two arms that curve on either side around the pail, and have their ends attached to and working on the pivoted ends g of a yoke, I, that is secured by screws or rivets in a horizontal position on the back side of the pail.y To prevent the cam-piece Efrom inclning over sideways, and thereby operating the rolls irregularly, I attach, by means of. screws 'or rivets c to the side of the pail andunderneath the cam, a guide-piece, F, that is provided with a vertical groove or mortise, e, in which plays the rectangular guide-pin i that is attached to and makes a part of the cam E. To prevent the pail from tipping over when the wringer is used, I attach in the front and at the bottom thereof a foot, J, as shown. To separateA the rolls I employ on either side of the pail a spring, M, that has its lower end attached to an arm of the trcadle G, and its upper to a hook or staple near the top of the pail. I l
To operate my mop-'ringer it is only necessary to place the mop L, fig. 2, between the rolls C C', and to press down the treadleG by'applying the foot to the. foot-piece H. The treadle G in its downward movement swings upon the pivoted ends g of the yoke I and takes down with it the cam-piece E, that, by means of the cam-'pinsi and cam-groovesf, drives together the ends of the operating-levers D D after the manner of a pair of shears, and so presses the rolls C and C against the mop, which, upon-.being withdrawn, is found to be wrang. :Upon removing .the foot from the treadle the latter is again raised and the rlls separated by the spring M.
Thoarrangement of the supporting-levers'D and D with the cam-piece E (the Vformer being, provided 2. The construction of the cam-piece Eend guide F, with the rectangular guide-pin and vertical groove 3. The arrangement of the treadle G pivoted on the ends of the yoke I with the cam E, operating-levers. onstructed andused substantially as described. I ROBERT W.' soPEB. Witnesses:
