IMPROVED METAL TIP FOR SUSPENDING BROOMS, dac.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY OONCERN:

Be it known that I, M. C. HAWKINS, of Edenboro, in `the county of Erie, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new andiimproved Metal Tip for suspending Brooms, Mops, and other articles, and that the' following description, takenin connection wih the accompanying drawings hereinafter referredrto, forms a full and -exact speeitcation ofthe same, wherein I have set forth the nature and principles of my said improvements, by which myvinvention may be distinguished from all others of a similar class, together with such parts as I claim and desire to have secured to meby Letters Patent.

This inventioinrelates to a new and improved metal tip for suspending brooms, mops, and other articles for householdruse,"which are provided with wooden handles.

, The invention consistsin striking up out'of a single piece of metal, or casting, a ferrnle which is driven on the end of the handle, and secured by a rivet or provided with an internal screw to screw on the handle, the l'outer end of the fel-rule being in the form of a loop to catch over a. nail or hook driven in the wall. In' the accompanying sheet of drawings- Figure 1 is a side view of a duster provided with my invention.

Similar letters of reference indicate like parts. l p A representsthe wooden handle of a duster, and B is a metal ferrule' which may bo constructed of sheet metal struckup in proper form'out of one piece, or it may be cast. The ferrule may simply be driven on the end ofthe handle. and secured by a rivet, or it may be provided with an internal screw-thread .so that it may ho screwed on the handle, asshown in iig. 2. The fcrrule is not adjusted its full length on the handle,` a portion being allowed to project beyond the en'd of the handle, andlthis portion is in the form of a loop or eye, a, which admits of the duster or other implement being suspended on a hook or nail driven iu the wall or other fixture. This simple device may be applied to all articles of household use which are provided with wooden handles, and
