Be it known that I, HENRY D. SCHMID, a citizen ofthe United Statesof America, residing at McKees Rocks, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Curtain Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in window-curtain iixtures, and relates more particularly to combination-ixtures for curtain-poles and shadebrackets. j

The object of the invention is to construct a device of the above-described character that will not deface or 1n ar the front face of a window-frame; furthermore, one that carries with it suitable means which are adapted to engage the side and top of the Window-frame.

The herein described invention further aims to construct a device of this character which will be easily applied and removed When desired; furthermore, one wherein all the fixtures will be of a uniform height, thereby overcoming" a very objectionable feature that is found in similar devices of this kind.

The invention has for its still further object t0 construct a fixture that will be eX- tremely simple in its construction, strong, durable, and highly efficient in its operation; furthermore, one that will be comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

Another object of my invention is to arrange the parts in such a manner that will admit of the forWard-and-rearward adjustment of the curtain-pole fixture and a lateral adjustment of the shade-bracket fixture.

With the above and other objects in view the invention finally consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.

In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and Wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved fixture attached in position on a Window-frame. Fig. 2 is a like View of the Opposite tixtu're, showing the same detached. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of Fig. l. Fig. 4 is a transverse vertical sectional View. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the V-shaped bracket forming a portion of the curtain-fixture. Fig. 6 is a similar view of the extension-hanger.

To put my invention into4 practice, I construct a clamp, which is adapted to be secured to each upper corner of the window-frame and comprises a top plate 1, that engages the top of the frame, a front plate 2 to engage the front of the frame, and a side plate 2 to engage the side of the frame, these plates being formed integral With each other, the plates 2 and 2 practically forming an angle-bar and the top bar 1 extending at right angles thereto, so that the .clamp as a Whole is substantially triangular in shape. The front plate 2 is provided with a pair of keepers 3, arranged in Vertical alinement with each other, the one nearthe top and the other near the lower end of the plate. The said front plate is also provided with guides Il it and a screw-threaded pin 5, all of the aforesaid parts being formed integral with one another. Pins 6 are arranged on the under side of the angle-iron and are formed integral therewith, said pins extending downwardly and adapted to engage the upper face of the window-frame.V The j other side of the angle-iron has an aperture 7 for the reception of the thumb-screw 8, the latter when placed in position being embedded in the side of the Window-frame. The said pins and thumb screw serve as fastening means to secure the device to a Window-frame.

The reference-nu meral 9 indicates a sliding shade -roller bracket. Said bracket is approximately L-shaped and has formed therein a slot 10, adapted to operate over the pin 5. The sides of said bracket engage in the guides ft, and said bracket is bent at right angles, as shown at 11. One of the said brackets is provided with a round opening 12 and the other with a square opening (not shown in the drawings) to receive the ends of the shade-roller.

The reference-numeral 13 represents a V- shaped bracket having downwardly-extending hooked ends 14, these ends being adapted to engage in the keepers 3 of the plate 2. ,A

slot 15 is formed in the upper portion of the IOO V-shaped bracket, and a hanger 16 is provided, having formed on its forward end a hook portion 17 and an aperture 18, arranged near the rearward end of the same to receive the set-screw 19, the latter being adapted to operate in the slot 15 of the V-shaped bracket and form a Sliding connection between the hanger 16 and the said V-shaped bracket, allowing both a forward and rearward extension of the said hanger 16.

The manner of applying my improved fixture is as follows: The angle-irons are placed in position over the upper corners of the Window-frame by driving the points 6 into the wood. The thu ulb-screw 8 is then driven home into the side of the frame, thereby securely fastening the angle -irons to the windowframe. The shade-roller brackets are then adjusted. to engage the ends of the shade-rollers, which 'are placed in the brackets in the usual manner, thus forming in itself a complete fixture. When it is desired to attach the' curtain-pole, the V-shaped brackets are secured in the staples by means of the downwardly extending ends. The curtain pole may then be adjusted to the desired distance from the window-frame.

In view of the above-detailed description it is thought that a further explanation of the operation and functions of the device is unnecessary. It will be noted, however, that the curtain-fixture may be readilyremoved independently from the shade-iixture and that when the iixtures are secured to the corners of the window-frame a perfect alinement of the fixtures is assured.

Attention is directed to the fact that various changes Ymay be made in the details of construction of my improved window-curtain lixture without departing from the general spirit of my invention.

I am aware of the fact that prior to my invention combination curtain and shade fixtures have been used. I therefore do not claim this feature as broadly new; but

What I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

In a curtain-Ixture, the combination with a Window-frame, of a substantially rectangular top plate, a substantially rectangular side plate secured at right angles thereto, a substantially rectangular front plate secured at right angles to said top and side plates, all of the aforesaid plates being made integral with one another, pins made integral with the under side of the said top plate, the said side plate having an aperture formed therein, a thumb-screw, keepers made integral with the said front plate, the said keepers having openings formed therein, a substantially V- shaped bracket, hooked ends made integral with the said bracket and adapted to engage in the apertures in the said keepers, said bracket having a slot formed therein,a hanger a thumb-screw mounted thereon, said thumbscrew adapted to operate in said slot, and brace-rods formed integral with said bracket, substantially as described.
