GEORGE WVALTER LOVEJOY, OF TEI-IAOHAII, CALIFORNIA.
DISTRIBUTING-MACHINE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 681,801, dated September 3, 1901. Application filed April 30, 1901. Serial No. 5 8,226. N model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE WALTER LovE- JOY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tehachapi, in the county of Kern and State of California, have invented a new and useful Distributing-Machine for Distributing Pulp after It Leaves the Apron of a Battery Direct to the Cyanid-Tank for Leaching, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a vertical revolving shaft held in a frame over the center of the top of a tank carrying an inverted-c0neshaped center, with different sizes of pi pes, also of different lengths, fast on the hub of center. These pipes have holes near their outer ends. Over the ends of these pipes is a sleeve with corresponding holes held by a thumbscrew to regulate the flow of water and pulp from the battery. By these pipes I distribute pulp in tanks. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a vertical section of the entire machine.
Frame 0 is fastened to the top of tank. On the bottom of frame 0 is bearing A in center of top of tank, with oil-chamber for oiling bearing A. Sand-cap O is held on shaft B by nut N. IVhen shaft B is in place, N is screwed down over bearing A. The top of shaft B is held in place by screw F, which has a center point on the lower end. This passes through nut H, which is held in place on cap of frame 0 over A. Screw F passes through an oil-chamber counterbored on top of shaft B and engages shaft B at bottom of oil-chamber. Near the center of shaft B distributer D is held in place by nuts N None at top and one at the bottom. The lower part of D carries pipes Y, screwed in the outside of hub. These pipes have holes near their outer ends, with a sleeve or slide over them charge. The number of holes in these pipes is governed by the diameter of tanks they are used on. Near the top of D is a row of buckets on the inside, which are divided around the entire circle fastened to D. These buckets are L-shaped and engage the water and pulp discharged from the battery through pipe E and give the power that drives the distributor. Pipe E has about contracted nozzle and bell-shaped top and is held in place on frame 0.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination in a distributing-machine held in a frame; of a revolving vertical shaft; an inverted-cone-shaped distributer having pipes thereon with holes near their outer ends and means to regulate the flow of pulp through these holes.
2. In combination an inverted-cone-shaped distributer having buckets around its inner circumference near the top, a discharge-pipe E, said distributer held on a vertical shaft with means for carrying oil, and a sand-cap on lower end of shaft B all running on two centers and held in a frame over top of tank, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
