Description

No. 68:,010. Patented Au 20, new.
F. Y. WILHOFT. VAGINAL" SYRINGL (Applicatiim filed May 81, 1901.;
(No Model.) A
FFICE.
ATENT FRANK Y. WILHOFT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
VAGINAL SYRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming partof Letters Patent No. 681,010, dated August 20, 1901.
Application filed May 31 1901.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK Y. WILHOFT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vaginal Syringes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a vaginal syringe providedwith a nozzle of peculiar construction by which a thorough washing of the vagina is effected.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a longitudinal section of my improved vaginal I syringe, showing the flexible bulb partly broken away; Fig. 2, a side view of the nozzle c; Fig. 3, a side view of the tube b. Fig. 4 represents several details of the Wheel e and sleeve 03, and Fig. 5 is an enlarged end view of the nozzle.
The letter a represents the softrubber bulb of the syringe, into the neck of which is fitted the tube 1), having a threaded upper end for engagement with the threaded nozzle 0. This nozzle is made of bulged form and is provided with a central opening into which is fitted a flanged sleeve d. The sleeve d contains a rotatable wheel e, having inclined blades e and turning on a screw-pivot f, that is tapped into a transverse bridge-piece or lug d of the sleeve. By tightening up the screw-pivot more or less the force of the spray emitted may be regulated. The wheel e is by the con- Serial No. 62 467. (No model.)
struction described set within the body of the nozzle, and may: thus rotate freely without coming into contact with tke' 'i'valls of the vagina.
Around the wheel e the nozzle 0 is provided with a-series of lateral perforations g and h, arranged, preferably, in two or more concentric rows. These perforations or bores incline in opposite directions from the axis of the syringe, Fig. 5, the perforations g slanting from left to right and the perforations hslanting from right to left. Thus the liquid contents of the bulb a will be forced out at the circumference of the nozzle in two diverging streams,while centrally through these streams passes the axial spray formed by the inclined blades of the rotating wheel 6. The effect of the combined action of these differently-(la flected jets is to subject the vagina to a thorough cleansing. I
What I claim is- A vaginal syringe provided with a nozzle containing a rotatable wheel, and with per forations around said Wheel that slant in op-= posite directions, substantially as specified,
Signed by me at New York city, county and State of New York, this 27th day of May,1901.
FRANK Y. WVILHOFT.
