P. FRASEB.' COMBINED GALENDAB,PEN,AND PENCIL.
(Application filed Nov. 6, 1899.)

PETER FRASER, OF FULHAM, ENGLAND.
COMBINED CALENDAR, PEN, AND PENCIL.
SIECIFICATEQN formingpart Of Letters Patent N0. 677,449, dated July 2, 1901. Application filed November 6, 1899. fierial No. 736,027. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, PETER FRASER, residing at 12 Foskett road, Fulham, in the county of Middlesex, England, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Combined Galendar, Pen, and Pencil; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new orim proved combined calendar, pen, and pencil, and is designed with the object of combining a calendar with a pen or pencil case or combined pen and pencil in a novel, simple, and inexpensive manner, whereby the dates upon such calendar are extremely ready of reference, while at the same time such calendar is easy of adjustment and alteration for the purpose of maintaining the calendar up to date.
In order that this my said invention may be the more readily understood and carried into practical effect,-reference is hereby made to the accompanying sheet of illustrative drawings, wherein Figure 1 is an elevational view of a combined pencil and calendar in accordance with my invention, Fig. 2 being a view of a portion of the calendar-sheet, while Fig. 3 is an elevational view of the calendar-carrying roller, part of the calen dar-sheet being shown unwound therefrom; and Fig. 4 is an elevational view showing a modified form of the invention.
Referring to the drawings, wherein like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several figures, a represents a cylindrical case, having at one end a sliding pencil holder b of ordinary form. lVithin the other end of the said cylindrical case a I locate, so as to be rotatable therein, a roller 0, around which is wrapped a calendar-sheet d. The said calendar-sheet, which is rectangular in shape, is divided into twelve spaces by means of transverse lines of perforations cZ, such calendar-sheet being wound around the said roller 0 in such a manner that only the numerals composing the days of one month, together with the name of such month and the initial letters of the days of the week contained therein, will be exposed, those of the other months being concealed from view pired,the calendar-sheet (Z is torn off the roll at the perforated line defining such month and the sheet then stuck down again at the two corners of the next months space.
A lengthwise slot 6 is provided in the cylindrical casing ct near the end designed to receive the roller 0 and calendar-sheet d, such slot being of such dimensions as to allow the days of the current week printed upon the rolled'calendar-sheet, together with the initial letter of the name of the week, to be displayed through same, such slot 6 being transversely extended near one end, as at e", for the purpose of displaying the name of the current month.
The rear end of the roller 0 is provided with "a diminished extension 0, which passes through and is free to rotate in a flanged cap f, which fits into the rear end of the cylindrical casing awhen the roller provided with the calendar-sheet is pushed home therein, the said roller 0 being rotated for the purpose of bringing the desired column of numerals, 850., into coincidence with the slot 6 by turning the diminished extension 0 with the fingers in the desired direction.
The end of the extension 0 may be provided with the usual ring g for attachment of the pencil-case to a watch-chain or the like.
Although for convenience of illustration I have shown the cylindrical case a as having in addition to the calendar a pencil-holder only, it will of course be understood that such cylindrical case may be provided also with a penholder in the usual manner.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a combined calendar, pen and pencil, the combination with a cylindrical casin g having a lengthwise display-slot; of a roller r0- tatably located in the slotted end of said case;
and a calendar-sheet Wrapped around said roller, said sheet being gummed along its two greater edges and transversely perforated to divide it into spaces indicating the twelve months of the year each of said spaces having displayed thereon the name of the distinguishing month, days of the week, and the numerals comprising the days of the Week and month; and an end extension on said roller, anda flanged cap loosely mounted on 10 said casing, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
PETER FRASER.
