SIMEON S. BROOKS, OF CHESTER, CONNECTICUT.
GARM ENT-HANGER.
SPEGIFIGA'IION forming part of Letters Patent No. 668,673, dated February 26, 1901.
Application filed October 22, 1897. Renewed December 13, 1900. Serial No. 39,764. (No modeL) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIMEON S. BROOKS, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Chester, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Garment-Hangers, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 shows the hanger extended for use. Fig. 2 shows it in its folded condition.
The object of the improvement is the production of a coat-hanger made of Wire which can be duly extended for use and also folded up for transportation.
In the accompanying drawings the letter a denotes what may be termed a wire loop, with elbows b at the ends and with eyes 0 on the ends of those elbows.
The letter (1 denotes a similar wire loop, with elbows e at the ends and with eyes f on the ends of those elbows. The eyes of one loop grasp the wires of the other loop, so the two loops may slide upon each other and either be extended for use, as shown in Fig.
1, or put into the folded-up condition shown in Fig. 2.
The letter 9 denotes a suspension -lo0p whereby to suspend the hanger from a hook or nail. It is provided at the end with eyes it, which take hold of the wires of loop a when the coat-hanger is extended for use, as shown in Fig. 1, and which are adapted to slide upon the elbows b, so that the loop can fold down when the whole hanger is folded, as represented in Fig. 2.
I claim as my improvement- A garment-hanger of the character described, consisting of two horizontally-disposed, approximately U-shaped frame sections or members, each of said sections being provided at its inner free ends with eyes engaging the arms of the other section, and a suspending device slidably mounted upon the arms of one of said sections.
SIMEON S. BROOKS.
