Be it known that I, WILLIAM MILL BUTLER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new aud Improved Combined Memorandum-Book and Pincushion, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The purpose of this invention is to provide a convenient means for carrying pins, such means being especially adapted to use by men. In attaining this end I provide a notebook, such as men usually carry, with pinreceptacles, in which pins may be conveniently stuck and carried. The said receptacles are formed of iiexible material folded upon itself and arranged as hereinafter described.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both Views.

Figure l is a perspective View of the invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged section thereof.

Fig. 3 is a perspective View with parts broken away to show a slightly modified form of the invention.

The covers a of the book are rigid and inclose the leaves h in the usual manner. They are provided, preferably at their top and bottom edges and at their side edges also, if desired, with sections of leather, which are folded, as shown, the edge or fold proper being perforated to allow insertion of pins.` The folded edge is exposed, so that the pins (indicated at CZ) may be easily placed therein.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. As au improved article of manufacture, the memorandum-book having covers provided with an inserted strip of flexible material which is doubled or folded upon itself, the fold being perforated and exposed at the edges of the cover, as shown and described.

2. As an improved article of manufacture, the memorandum-book having covers whose outer and inner portions are each continuous, or in one piece, around the back, and an inserted piece of leather which is similarly continuous, and folded or doubled upon itself, the fold being provided with perforations and exposed at the edge of the covers proper, as shown and described.
