ANNA MILES GOULDING, OF NEWT YORK, N. Y.
GAME-SCORING APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 655,862, dated August 14, 1900. Application filed May l1,1900. Serial No. 15,540. (No model.)
T0 tu whom. it may concern:
Beit known that I, ANNA Minus GoULnINc., of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game-Scoring Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide a convenient and reliable scoring apparatus for games which are played progressively.
It consists in the improvements which I will now proceed to describe and claim.
Of the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figures I and 2 represent the two differently-designated scorecards pertaining to` my improved apparatus. Eig. 3 represents the coupon-tablet which completes the apparatus.
The same reference characters indicate the same parts in all the figures.
My improved scoring apparatus comprises two score-cards a and b, each of which has a series of consecutively-nu mbered spaces c,the spaces in this case being numbered consecutively from l to 12. The cards are differentlydesignated, the cards a in this case bearing the word Gentleman, while the card o bears the word Lady Blanks are preferably provided for the insertion of the names of the players and the date on which the game is played. The score-cards are preferably made of relatively-stiff paper, and each may be perforated at one end and provided with a cord or loop by which it may be suspended from a button.
d represents a coupon-sheet which comprises two series of detachable gummed coupons d' d2. Each series of coupons is consecutively numbered, and when the number of coupons required is such as to make it inconvenient to form all the coupons on one sheet they may be formed on two or more sheets, bound together to form a book or tablet, each sheet being provided with weakened perforated lines, enabling the coupons to be readily detached; and gummed on its back, so that 'the detached coupons can be readily secured to the score-card. Each coupon is formed to be applied to one of the spaces c of a scorecard, and the two series of coupons are differently designated, each coupon of the series d bearing the name Lady, while each coupon of the series cl2 bears the name Gentleman.j The coupon sheet or tablet is also preferably provided with a number designating the table at which the coupon sheet or tablet is to be used.
In practice the four score-cards and one coupon sheet or tablet are put up together in an envelop or other suitable package, there being two of the cards a and two of the cards I). Each group of players is provided with one of these sets, each player retaining a score-card, while the coupon sheet or tablet is left at the table having the corresponding number. At the conclusion of the irst game and before progressing the winning couple will tear oft' and divide the coupons marked Game 1, these coupons being secured to the correspondingly-numbered spaces on the respective score-cards. This operation is repeated at each table7 and at the end of the series of games each score-card will have affixed thereto the coupons won by the player.
It will be seen that the described apparatus enables the score of any progressive game to be kept with entire accuracy and in a convenient manner.
It is obvious that the invention is embodied in a game apparatus which comprises one score-card having a series of consecutivelynumbered spaces and a coupon-sheet having a corresponding series of consecutively-numbered coupons. Hence my invention is not limited to a game in which the score-cards are differently designated, as here shown,
I claim- A gaine scoring apparatus comprising a coupon sheet or tablet having two series of consecutively-numbered gummed detachable coupons, and twice as many score-cards as there are series of coupons, said score-cards being diiferently designated, each of the detachable coupons being formed to be applied to one of the score-card spaces, each series of coupons having the same designation as one of the score-cards.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ANNA MILES GOULDIN G.
