Description

" ATENT FICE HERMAN O. KRUSCHKE, OF AURORAVILLE, WISCONSIN;
SCYTHE-WRENCH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 641,122, dated January 9, 1900.
Application filed October 24, 1896. Serial No, 609,911. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN O. KRUSOHKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Auroraville,in the county of Waushara and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scythe-Wrenches; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has reference to a novel construction in a scythe-snath; and it consists in the features of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, the figure is a longitudinal section of the end portion of a scythesnath, illustrating the wrench in position therein.
Referring to the drawing, 1 indicates the snath, having, preferably, a longitudinal opening 2 therein extending from the end inwardly. The plate 3 is secured at the end of said snath and is provided with spring-arms 8 to engage the handle of the wrench 5, so that neither said plate 3 nor the handle of the wrench need be provided with screw-threads. The wrench 5 has a handle 6, which can be inserted into an opening 2 in the end of said snath. It also has a groove formed to receive the ends of the spring-arms 8, by means of which the wrench is held from escaping until it is desired to be removed therefrom. It is ob-' vious that with this construction the wrench can be held securely against loss and displace ment and will always be ready when wanted.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A means for securing a wrench to a soythe= snath consisting of a longitudinal opening formed in the end portion of said snath to receive the handle of said wrench, a plate adapt ed to fit over the end of said snath, said plate having a hole therethrough adapted to register with said longitudinal opening, spring tongues secured to said plate, and arranged to extend within said longitudinal opening and terminating at their inner ends with a slightly-enlarged portion adapted to engage within a groove formed around the handle of said wrench, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HERMAN O. KRUSOHKE.
