TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that we, T. E. MARABLEv and GREY UTLEY, of Petersburg, Dinwiddie county, State of Virginia., have invented a, new and improved Alarm-Gun; and we do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making n part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a. vertical section of the `gun.

The nature of our invention'consists in the combination of' a cast-iron bei with four guns cast solid with it, and fired at the centre by an upright hammer.

A represents the square iron box with Ithe four guns B cest solid with it; C, the nipple, upon which the percussion cap D is placed; E, the lid, fastened to the box A by pins'G that extend through ears or anges at the side of the lid. The lid tapers to the top, but flat at top, containing a round' aperture that the shaft of the hammer H operates in, and a square slot, J, at the side of the aperture that n. square projecting piece, K, on the shaft ofthe hammer operates in. L L L L are four horizontal arms at the top o'f the shaft of the hammer, with apertures at their extremities to attach-wires, to be extended to any door, window, or apartment, to four different places. M, a spiral spring surrounding the shaft of the hammer between the hammer and the top of the iid E. The red lines show the hammer raised and cocked. The gun is cocked by drawing the hammer up by the' hand until the pin K, on the shaft, reaches the top on the outside of the lid, then by turning the hammer to the right or left the pin rests upon the lidjust out ofthe slot J, strings or wires being fixed to each end of the arms L and stretched in different directions, so that anything coming in contact with either string willcause the hammer to turn until the pin falls into the slot J, when' the hammer then falls and explodes the cap, the gun firing four di'erent directions.

What we claim as our` invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combination .of the horizontal and radial barrels, when fired at the centre by a single cap, and vertical hammer in the top of the box, arranged and operated as herein set forth.
