To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM M. MEMMIN- GER, of Rosemount, Dakota county, Minne: sota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Shields, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to devices for protecting the collar against moisture; and the objects of the invention are, first, to provide means for protecting a starched collar from perspiration, and, second, to provide a protector or shield for a starched collar which can be easily placed in position after the collar is put on, if preferred, and as readily removed.
The invention consists generally in a moisture-proof band or belt adapted to flt between the collar and the neck of the wearer.
Further, the invention consists in means for securing the band or belt in position inside the collar.
Further, the invention consists in various constructions and combinations, all as hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspeotive of my improved collar-shield. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the shield attached to a collar.
In the drawings, 2 represents the band or belt, preferably of celluloid, having at its upper edge the outwardly-turned flange 3 and on its lower edge a series of points or projections 4, that areshown in the drawings integral with the main portion of the band,
but may, if preferred, be formed independently thereof and secured thereto in any suitable manner. The band is preferably open at the back and is slipped down inside the collar, so that the upper edge of the collar able for any one walking or riding a wheel or for those who perspire freely in warm weather.
While I haveshown the device made of celluloid, I do not confine myself to this material, as any substance that is light, flexible,
. and moisture-proof will answer the purpose shield comprising a moisture-proof band or belt adapted to be inserted between the collar and neck of the wearer, and a series of flexible points provided at intervals on the lower edge of said band and adapted to be bent under the lower edge of the collar, and forming hooks to hold the shield in place.
2. A collar-shield, comprising a moistureproof band or belt adapted to be inserted between the collar and the neck of the wearer and having at its upper edge an outwardly-- turned flange to rest upon the top of the collar, and means for securing the lower edge of said band to the collar, substantially as de= scribed.
3. As a new article of manufacture a moisture-proof band or belt fittinginside the col lar, a flange provided upon the upper edge of said band, and a series of flexible points provided at the lower edge thereof, for the purpose specified.
4. A collar-shield, comprising a band or belt 2, having at its upper edge an outwardlyturned flange 3 and at its lower edge a series of flexible points or projections 4:, for the purpose specified.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my,
