ERNST KABISIUS, OF DAVENPORT, IQWA. Lam Patent No. 63,395, dated April 2, 1867.
IMPROVEMENT III STOVE-PIPE DAMPEBS.
Q'Llgt irlgchnle rennet la in time itrttrrs Efiateut ant making tart .ut tlgt same.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ERNST KABISIUS, of the city of Davenport, in the county of Scott, and State of Iowa have invented certain new and useful improvements in Smoke-Pipe Dampers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, like letters indicating like parts wherever they occur.
To enable others skilled in the art to construct and use my invention, I will proceed to describe it.
Figure 1 is an external view of my invention.
Figure 2 is an internal view showing the valve in a vertical position.
Figure 3 is also an internal view showing the valve in a horizontal position.
Figure 4, perspective view of valve.
Figure 5 shows how valve-rim is kept in position, being attached in the centres of rim.
Figure 6 are the scrapers.
A A are the smoke pipes attached to damper drum. B B is the rim of valve. 0 is the centre of the valve, and secured to rim B of valve. 1) is a scraper secured to the outer rim of damper, for the purpose of cleaning rim of valve B when said valve revolves. E is another scraper attached to rim of valve I3 for the purpose of 'eleaning rim of damper-drum by the motion of the valve. F is the outer cylinder of the drum, and G the end cases. H is the crank firmly attached to the valve Bppassingthrough the centre of the case G, for the purpose of working said damper. I is a'spring attached to the crank H, to hold valve in any desired position. These damper-drums can he made any desired size, so as to he a great help in radiating heat, as well as to controlling the draught of ElIB SlIOVlS, and thus economize fuel. Also, it is so constructed as to collect the greater part of the soot in the drum, which can be scraped off and fall back into the stove, and there be burned up or removed, thus preventing the pipe above the drum filling up with soot.
What I claim as new, is
The form of the valve B and C, with me scraper E attached to clean the inside of cylinder F.
Also, I claim the scraper D, attached to cylinder 15, for cleaning outside of valve B.
And I also claim the damper-drum as a radiator and damper combined, all as herein set forth.
ERNST KABISIUS. Witnesses:
A. H. BROOKS,
W. L. CARROLL.
