ALUMINIUM ALLOY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 639,600, dated December 19, 1899.
A lication filed March 10, 1898. Serial No. 673,413. (No specimens.)
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. MCADAMS, a citizen of the United States, and a residentof New York, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Aluminium Alloys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a composition consisting of aluminium, zinc, and copper, combined in substantially the following proportions, viz: aluminium, one hundred and eight ounces; zinc,thirty-six ounces; copper, twelve ounces.
The composition made the subject-matter of the present application is closely allied in its proportions to that which forms the subject-matter of my pending application, Serial No. 661,017, filed December 7, 1897, but differs therefrom in that the'nickel is omitted. The composition is practically formed by melting the copper and aluminium and mixing them in their melted state and then introducing the zinc. The composition may then be formed in such shape as found most convenient for shipment or use by pouring it into molds of the required dimensions.
What I claim is- An aluminium alloy composed of aluminium, zinc and copper, the several substances being combined in the proportion of three parts by weight of aluminium to every one part by weight of zinc and three parts by weight of zinc to every one part by weight of copper.
