Description

@with ,tstts atwft @frn EDWARD DO EN, 0 F NEW` BRITAIN, G() N NEGTIGUT.
Letters Patent No. 63,621, dated April 9, 1867.
IMPROVD CURTAIN FIXTURE.
@alge Salame referat tu in tlgcse tettas ntmtfma milking gaat at tige same.
TO ALL WHOM I'I MAY CONGERN: i
Be it known that I, EDWARDVDOEN, of New Britain, county of VHartford, and State of Gonneeticut, have invented certain new and useful improvement in Curtain Brackets; and to enable others skilled in the art to make and use, I will proceed to describe the same by referring to the drawings, in which the same letters indicate like part-s in each of the iignres.
The nature of this improvement will be understood from thegspecication and drawings, the object of which is, first, to provide a knob (which usually has a pnlley attached thereto) of such material as of itself will form a smooth surface without any extra labor, as glass, porcelain, Ste., which will allow the cord to move freely over its surface, thereby saving the cost of labor and material for said -pnlley and second, in providing abutton prong or hook which projects one or both ways from its fastening-screw or pin, which serves tokeep the curtain cord in place, or for a festoon hook (one or both) as may be desirable. The plate, with its ratchet, is much like those no'w in common use. In the accompanying drawings-` Eignre l is a face view.
Figuren? is a back side view.
Figure 3 is a sectional side view of gs. l and 2.
Figure 4 is a View of a two-prong knob.
a is the holding-plate, which is secured to the casing, having a ratchet, b, (formed on either side of the I opening 0,) ar the equivalent device-thereof for holding the button eZ in its proper place. l is a prong, hook, button, or knob, made of glass, porcelain, o1' other material, whose surface becomes smooth by the act of forming it, or by the inherent nature of the material from which it is formed. This hook or prong knob d is attached to a clutch, e, by means of a pin or bolt, g, by means of which the knob and clutch CZ are moved from o nc point to another. By lifting and pulling the knob the glass or porcelain prong or prongs of the knob (Z serve to proteet the curtain cord from wearing orA from becoming detached therefrom, and will also serve for the purpose of a festoon hook, thus greatly adding to the symmetrical appearance of the bracket, and rendering it at the same time more desirable and useful as an article of manufacture and trade. i
I believe I have thus shown the nature, construction, and advantage of this improvement so as to enable others skilled in the` art to make the same therefrom.
What I claim, therefore, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-e The combination of the glass or porcelainl festoon prong knob d, with the ratchet or holding-plate b, as and for the purpose specified.
