CLOTHES-PIN SACK AND CARRIER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ITHAMER M. HARREFF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canfield, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Pin Sacks and Carriers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, in which Figure 1 is a view showing a portion of the clothes-pin sack, also showing the carrier properly connected to a clothes-line. Fig. 2 is a detached view of the pivoted clasp. 'Fig. 3 is a detached View of the sack-carrier, showing the pivoted clasp removed. Fig. 4 is a transverse section of the clothes-line, showing the carrier properly connected to the line, also showing the pivoted clasp in different positions in dotted lines.

The present invention has relation to clothes-pin sacks and carriers; and it consists in the novel arrangement hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

Similar numbers of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.

The object and purpose of the present invention is to provide a carrier for clothes-pin sacks that can beeasily attached to a clothesline and detached therefrom.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a means for moving the sack along the line from time to time as the olothes'are connected to the line.

1 represents the lower portion of the carrier, to which the sack 2 is attached and should be of such a size that a persons hand can be entered to remove the clothes-pins contained in the sack. From the portion 1 extend the members 3, which members are twisted together, as illustrated at 4, and are also provided with the eyes 5, which eyes are formed by looping the members 3, as illustrated in the drawings. Above the eyes 5 are located the bends 6, and above the bends 6 is formed the curved portion 7, which curved portion provides a means for hanging the sack containing the clothes-pins upon a nail or other object when not in use.

In use the pivoted clasp 8 is turned clownward, as illustrated in the dotted lines, Fig. 4,, and the clothes-line 9 placed in the hooked ends of the clasp, after which said clasp is carried upward or turned upon its pivotal point until the line comes in contact with the curved portion 7, which brings the line above the bends 6 and under the hooked ends of the pivoted clasp 8, thereby connecting the sack, together with its different parts and the clothes-pins to be contained in the sack, to the line and leaving the carrier loosely connected, so that it can be easily moved back and forth upon the line.

To detach the carrier from the line, the carrier proper is lifted, so as to bring the line in close proximity with the bends 6 or in contact therewith, after which the pivoted clasp 8 is free to be turned forward, as illustrated in dotted lines, Fig. 4, thereby disconnecting the carrier and sack from the clothes-line.

It will be understood that the carrier proper is to be formed of wire of sufficient size and strength to carry out the purposes above described and is preferably formed of a single piece of wire. The pivoted clasp is also formed of wire,preferably of a size corresponding with the size ofthe wire used in the formation of the carrier, and is pivotally connected to the eyes 5, as illustrated in the drawings.'

.For the purpose of assisting in holding the carrier and at the same time preventing any displacement the bent portions 6 are formed upon the pivoted clasp.

Having fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

As an improved article of manufacture, a sack-carrier consisting of the sack portion or loop l,provided with the twisted and extended members 3, having the eyes 5, the bends 6 and the curved portion 7, and the pivoted clasp 8, provided with the bent portions 6 substantially as and for the purpose specified.
