ATTACHMENT FOR BARBERS HAIR-CLIPPERS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 621,439, dated March 21, 1899.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE M. WVATSON, of Raymond, in the county of Montgomery and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Barbers Hair-Clippers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.

My invention relates to hair-clippers, and more particularly to a certain new and useful attachment for barbers hair-clippers, whereby the hair out off by the clippers is caught and prevented from falling upon the person or clothing of either the barber or the customer or upon the floor, whereby great annoyance to the customer is prevented and the necessity of cleaning shop immediately after hair-cuttin g avoided,

TVith this object in view my invention consists in an attachment for barbers hair-clip pers, as will be fully described hereinafter and afterward specifically pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a pair of clippers grasped in the hand of the operator and equipped with an attachment constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the attachment removed from the clippers.

Like letters of reference mark the same parts in both figures of the drawings.

Referring to the drawings by letters, A indicates a pair of clippers of any usual or approved type, provided with a screw-stem B and a tap-nut O, by means of which the usual cover or guard for the operating mechanism is secured in position.

D indicates my improved attachment,which is a pan or receptacle to catch the clipped hair. It may be made of any suitable mate rialsuch as celluloid, hard rubber, sheet metal, &c.and of any suitable form, provided only that the end E is formed to prop erly fit upon the face of the clipper and has an opening to pass over the-scre'w-stem B be- 1 cient means for carrying my invention into effect, I desire it to be understood that I do not restrict myself to the exact forms and constructions shown, but hold that any slight variation therefrom, such as might suggest itself to the ordinary mechanic, would clearly be included in the limit and scope of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

1. An attachment for barbers hair-clippers consisting of a pan or receptacle for the clipped ends of the hair, adapted to be attached by the tap-nut and to extend therefrom above and in front of the handles of the clipper, substantially as described.

2. An attachment for barbers hair-clippers consisting of a pan or receptacle for the clipped ends of the hair, adapted to be attached to the clipper outside of and below the cutting-teeth, substantially as described.
