TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: t

Be it known that I, WILLIAM BACHELLER, of West Newbury, in the county of Essex, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and improved Combined Corset and v Skirt Supporter; and I do 'hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, `reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this speeication.

rlhe present invention relates to a skirt supporter and corset combined, the said supporter being made of sheet metal, or other suitable material, moulded to tit the form of the person wearing it, and so secured to the corset as to form apart of the same, and to be susceptible of being attached and detaehedat pleasure when the corset is to be washed or cleansed. In the accompanying plate of drawings my combined corset and skirt supporter is illustrated- Figure l being a perspective view and elevation of the corset and skirt supporter from its rear side, show it as applied tothe form'or body of the figure of a woman. A, in the drawings, represents the corset, which may be made of any of the ordinary forms and constructions now in common use, except so far as it may be necessary to change the saule to receive `and encase the sheet-metal plates B, moulded into a form to stand away from and fit over the hips of the person ou which it is Worn, these plates constituting the skirt-supporter of the corset and forming apart of the same, as plainly shown in the drawings. The skirt-supporter plates, B, at one end, C, are so fastened in and to the corset upon the reaiwside of the same, where it is laced by screw-eyelets, D. that they can be removed, and .thus the plates detached from the corset when it is to be washed or cleaned in any proper manner, the cloth covering thelsupporter plates, in lieu of being closely stitched along the upper edge of the plates, being only basted, as it were, so as to enable them to be ripped out withffacility and dispatch.

It is not necessary for me to herein particularly specify 'any of the many advantages secured by my com: bined corset and skirt supporter, as they are plainly obvious and apparent to everyone by anY inspection of the drawings in connection with the description above'. v

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In combination with an ordinary corset, the skirt supporter for which' Letters Patent were granted me May 29, 1865, adapted to be worn and secured together in' the manner as and for the-purpose specified.
