ADVERTISING-SIGN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 612,895, dated October 25, 1898. Application filed June 20, 1898- Serial No. 683,956. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I,PETERF.DOWNEY,a resident of Mount Vernon, Westchester county, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising-Signs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in advertising-signs manufactured of textile fabric, which improvements are fully set forth in the following specification and claim reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference thereon, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a broken-away face view of a sign embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-section on the line 2 2 of Fig. l.
The object'of my invention is to construct a waterproof advertising-sign.
In the drawings, a represents a piece of textile fabric which gives body to the advertising-sign.
b is ordinary sizing evenly and thinly spread over the face of the textile fabric in order to offer a printing-surface.
' c is a letter or figure printed upon the sizing 1). v
d d is a covering of paraffin or similar water-resisting substance which surrounds the whole advertising-sign.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is-- As a new and useful article of manufacture, the herein-described flexible waterproof sign comprising a sheet of textile fabric a, a thin coating of sizingbcovering one side thereof, letters or figures c printed upon the sizing b, and a covering cl of a waxy nature surrounding the fabric, sizing and lettering so as to offer a water-resisting surface on both sides of the sign.
