N model-l 1'0 aZZ whom it maywlwern: jecting portionlS, is pivotally attached to Be it known that we, GRANVILLE DAVIS, the hinge-lug 2 by a pin or bolt 10. An adresiding at North Salem, in the county of justable arm 11, having an angular jaw 12 Hendricks and State of Indiana, and JAMES and carrying a pivotally-secured hook 13 at M. DAVIS, residing at Henry, in the county its outer end, is slidably secured upon the of Marshall and State of Illinois, citizens of jaw-support 8 bymeans of a thumb-screw 14, the United States, have invented certain passing through a slot 15 in the adjustable new and useful Improvements in Vehiclearm 11 and entering threaded openings 16 in Wrenches; and We do declare the following the jaw support 8. The spring -arm 4 is 10 to be a full, clear, and exact description of preferably formed of flat spring metal, with the invention, such as will enable others the integral hook 17 at its outer end and at skilled in the art to which it appertains to right angles thereto. make and use the same, reference being had In operation the jaws 3 and 12 are adjusted to the accompanying drawings, and to the to fit the vehicle-nut by means of the thumb- 15 figures of reference marked thereon, which screw 14 and slot 15. Said jaws are placed form a part of this specification. on the nut and the hook 13 hooked over a Our invention relates to improvements in spoke of the 'wheel 19. The spring-arm 4- is vehicle-wrenches of the class that are adapted then depressed until the hook 17 on the end to simultaneously clamp the axle-nut and thereof also engages a spoke, when the ten- 26 vehicle-wheel and take off or put on said aXlesion of the spring-arm serves to hold it senut by rotating the wheel. curely in position on the wheel and nut. By The objects of our invention are, first, to rotating the wheel the nut will be loosened provide a wrench of that class that will be or tightened, as the case may be, inasmuch simple in construction; second, that can be as it is forced to turn with the wheel- Should 2 5 quickly adjusted to fit nuts of different sizes; it be desired to clamp a nut without using third, that has an elastic arm which holds the the hooks 13 and 17, the jaws 3 and 12 are jaws in constant contact with the nut, and, adjusted upon the nut and the screw 7 tightfourth, that has a means for adjusting the ened until its end, pressing against the inner jaws to clamp a nut without the necessity of face of the projecting portion 18, will clamp 0 clamping the wheel. the jaws uponthe nut. The adjustment of With these objects in View our invention the jaws is sufiicie'nt to fit the wrench to any consists in the construction and combination vehicle-nut of the class of Vehicles for which of parts shown in the accompanying drawit is intended.
