LEONARD R. I-IERRSCHAFT, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK SPOOL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of LettersPatent N 0. 601,321, dated March 29, 1898 Application filed J 11118 2 1, 18 9 '7- To aZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEONARD R. HERR- sGH'AF'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Spools of Thread, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to holders for spools of thread; and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which is particularly designed to be suspended from a ladys arm, but which may be suspended from any suitable support.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by the same letters of reference in the View, said drawing being a side view of my improved support.
My improved spool-support consists of a loop A, which is preferably formed from spring-wire, the separate parts of the loop being brought together at B and twisted to form a shank O, centrally of which is formed an opening D, through which the thread is adapted to be passed, and below the shank O the separate wires are curved outwardly, as
shown at E, and then formed into parallel projections or sides F, and one of said projections or sides is provided with a hook G and the other is formed into a spring-ring H, and connected with said spring-ring H is a transverse rod K, on which the spool L is adapted to be placed, and the free or outer end of the rod K is held in the hook G by the spring action of the ring H, and in practice the spool L isplaced on said transverse rod Serial No. 641,688. (No model.)
K, as shown in the drawing, and the thread M is preferably passed through the opening B in the shank O.
The loop A serves as a means for suspending the holder from a ladys arm, and is particularly designed for this purpose; but it will be apparent that said loop may be employed for suspending the holder or the spool L from any suitable support.
My improvement is simple in construction and operation, and perfectly adapted to accomplish the result for which it is intended, and,
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent As an improved article of manufacture, a
spool-holder, the same being formed out of a single blank of wire which is bent to form a loop A, adapted to be placed over the arm of the operator, the sides of said loop being brought together at B, and twisted to form a shank O, centrally of which is formed a small opening D, and the separate wires being curved outwardly below the shank D, at E, and formed into parallel sides F, forming a yoke, one of said sides being provided with ahook G, and the other being bent to form a ring H, and transverse extension K adapted to pass through a spool and to engage said hook Gr, substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 19th day of June, 1897.
LEONARD R. HERRSOHAFT.
