SPECIFICATION formng part of Letters Patent No. 608,404, dated August 2, 1898.
Application led June 25, 1896. Serial No. 596,914. (No model.)
To all whom] t may concern.:
Be it known that I, NORMAN IsAoHsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Marion, in the county of Cassia and State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful lowing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to churns; and its object is to provide for a larger supply of fresh air during the churning, which will not only accelerate the gathering of the butter, but will also improve the same.
The invention consists in the details of -construction hereinafter described.
The ligure shows a vertical section of a churn embodying my invention.
An ordinary form of churn is shown atl with a screw-threaded cap or cover 2, and centrally of this. cap is a flange 8, extending upwardly around a central opening t. Extending downwardly from the opening is a tube 5 of a'reduced diameter in its lower part. Fitted to the iiange 3 is a tube 6, extending upwardly, and these tubes serve as guards to prevent the cream or mill; from splashing out, and at the Y same time it permits the ready access of air for aeration of the contents of the churn. A dasher-rod 7 passes through the tubular openings formed by the parts of the guard, and this rod may carry on its lower end any kind 0f a dasher, such as shown at S.
Y I claim- In a churn, a receptacle, a cover and a tube or guard extending through said cover having a reduced lower end and an enlarged upper end and a dasher-rod passing through said guard, substantially as described.
