SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 605,77 5, dated June 14, 1898. Application filed May 1, 1897. Serial No. 634,705. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL BOGROFF, a subject 'of the Czar of Russia, residing at Odessa, Haus Ralli, Empire of Russia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steam-Radiators, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to steam -radiators, and has for its object to produce a steam radiator in which water is vaporized and confined in a closed cylinder forwarming small rooms, such as bath-rooms, &c.
The invention consists of a reservoir, a steam-generator located therein, a radiator and condenser inclosing said reservoir and generator, and a tube leading from a source of heat through the generator and into an inner cylinder located within the radiator and communicating with the atmosphere.
Referring to the drawings, Figure l is a sectional side View of the steam-radiator, and Fig. 2 is a section on the line a; as of Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawings, the reservoir on is constructed of a cylindrical base supported a suitable distance above the ground upon feet 01. The reservoir a is provided with a central opening in the bottom e, through which a tube or pipe f, open at both ends, is led. The cylindrical radiator is fits tightly within the reservoir (1 and rises from the bottom of said reservoir toa considerable height above the same. Inclosed within the radiator k is a smaller cylinder Z, which extends downwardly into the same to the upper edge The cylinder 1 is provided with an opening q in the bottom p, through which the end of the tube f extends, and is also provided at its upper end with a flange m, by which it is secured to the radiator is, which flange m closes the top of the radiator, thus preventing the escape of steam or vapor therefrom. The upper end of the inner cylinder Z is closed by means of a cap or cover 0, which is provided with perforations n for the escape of the products of combustion. The cylinder Z divides the interiorof'the radiator into an annular spaoet and a larger space '11 below the space if and communicating therewith.
Within the reservoir a is fixed a cylinder or block 9, of cement or other suitable substance, which is provided with an opening concentric with but somewhat larger than the opening in the bottom 6 of the reservoir (1. The tube f rises through the opening in the block g, leaving a small annular space h between the said tube and the block 9. The block 9 is provided with channels in its under surface, by means of which constant communication is maintained between the small annular chamber or space h and the reservoir a. An ordinary lamp sis shown as the source of heat and is placed under the bottom e of the reservoir a. The burner r and chimney I" of the lamp 8 extend up into the tube f, as shown in Fig. 1. The block g divides the reservoir a into two annular chambers h and 'i, which are filled with water and which communicate below the block with each other.
In this chamber 2' the water condensed in the I *The space h is so small that it contains practically only a film of water, which becomes quickly vaporized. The space it therefore forms the generator, while the outer space serves for preliminarily heating the water, which when thus heated passes into the annular space h through the channels in the under surface of the block g to be again vaporized.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. In a steam-radiator, the combination with a reservoir of a radiator communicating therewith, a generator located in said reservoir and provided with a central opening, a tube extending through said opening and of smaller diameter than the same forming an annular chamber communicating with said reservoir, and a source of heat communicating with said tube, substantially as set forth.
2. In a steam-radiator, the combination with a reservoir, of a radiator communicating therewith, a generator located in'said reservoir and having channels in its under surface and provided with a central opening, a tube of smaller diameter located within said opening and communicating with a perforation in the bottom of the reservoir and a source of heat communicating with said tube, substantially as set forth.
In a steam radiator, the combination with a reservoir of a radiator communicating therewith, a generator located in said reservoir and channeled upon its under surface and provided with a central opening, a tube of smaller diameter located within said opening and communicating at its lower end with an opening in the bottom of the reservoir, a cylinder located within the radiator and provided with an opening in its base through which the said tube extends, and a source of heat communicating with said tube, substantially as set forth.
