COMBINED GARMENT AND HOSE SUPPORT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 605,108, dated J' une '7, 1898.
Application filed October 7, 1897.
T a/ZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CoRA A. WEBER LIND- SAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Garment and Hose Support; and I do declare the followin g to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, and
to the figures of reference marked thereon,
which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new andy useful improvements in a' combined garment and hose support.
The invention has for its object the provision of a supportof the above-named class in whichA certain new and novel improvements/are added or combined for the purpose of increasing its usefulness. V-
With the above objects inview the inven-v tion inally consists in the novel construction; combination, -and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more specifically described in detail.
In describing the'in'vention in detail reference is hadlto the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like numerals designate like parts throughout the'several views, in which"- Figure lisaplan view of the back of the improved'support. Fig. 2 is a view of the inside 'of one 'of the endpieces, showing the hooklfastener's. Fig. 3 is a plan viewof the hose-fastenerl"V Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view through the same on the line XX of Fig.; 3.
Referring to the drawings for the detail parts of the support, the numerals l, 2, and 3 designate thev three parts which form the body of the support andare -made of :cloth or likel material, and each of these parts has a downwardly-extended end, las shown. The inner ends ofthe parts -1 and'3 are pivotally joined at their bottom portions to the lower ends ofthe centralor rear part 2 by suitable rivets e. The edges above the pivoted points are provided with eyelets 5, and into these eyelets are arranged the lace-string 6. The
Serial No. 654.366. (No model.)
of the parts 1 and 3 together where they meet at the front a series of suitable hooks 7 are :attached to the inner side of the' part 3 and eyebars or eyelets 8 upon the outer edge of thevpart 1. An upwardly-extended piece 9 is joined to the upper edge ofthe central or back portion 2, and upon the vinner upper edge of this piece are arranged suitable eyelets o1' eyepieces whereby the shoulder- straps 10 and 10 are connected thereto by suitable hooks 11. The opposite ends of these shoulder-straps have each attached to theirvinner sides a short 'strap lO', whereby they are connected to fastenersvo'r buckles 12, which are attached to the extension-piece 13 and flappiece 141-. j
Pivotally arranged -upon each of the rivets 4. is a short ,elastic strap 15, which is provided vwith a bucle or fastener 16, and to each of thesefasteners are attached the hose-supports 1'7, which have the fasteners 18 attached to their lower ends, where they engage with the hose. These fasteners are formed from a single piece of wire bent in the manner shown at YFigs. 3 and 4, with the dattened portion l13 formed upon it and a sliding frame 19 iitted within. This frame is hollowed out at 'its under side, as shown, and in use the edge of the hose is drawn over theltop of the ilattened portion and the sliding frame forced down upon it, thus securing the hose..- The flaps 2O are also pivotally arranged upon the pivots 4, so as to protect the garmentsifrom the fasteners'.
:A series of eyebars or eyelets 21 are arrangediupon the back piece 2, as Well as the It will be readily apparent that by pivotally.
attaching the hose-supports in the manner described they are free to move back and forth with the movement of the limbs, and by fastening the shoulder-straps to the rear body piece in the manner described they are able to move freely with the motion of the body.
Having thus shown and described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A combined garment and hose supporter, comprising a band or body portion consisting of sections laced together at their proximate edges, in combination with depending hosesupporting straps pivotally secured to the body portion, and depending front and rear napkin e supporting attachments, substantially as described.
2. The combination with the body portion consisting,` of the seetious l, 2 and 3 seeured together by rivets and lacing-cords, of hosesupporting straps pivotally secured to the body portion by the rivets which secure the sections of the body portion together, depending napkin-supporting attachments at the front and rear of the body portion, an upwardly-extending tab-piece S) secured to the rear section of the body, shoulder-straps the rear ends of which are adapted to be secured to the piece 9, and fastenings 12 and 13 secured to the front sections of; the body portion, to which the front ends of the shoulderstraps are secured, substantially as described.
The combination with the body portion consisting of the seetions l, 2 and E), secured together by rivets and lacing-cords, said sections l and 2 being provided with elastie straps 22 and having secured thereto napkin-supporting attachments 24 and 25, and with flapproteetors 26 and 27 for covering the elastic straps, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signatu re in presence of two witnesses.
CURA A. VEIEER LINDSAY.
