Be it known that we, GOTTFRIED LOHR and MERITBOWLES, citizens of the United States, and residents of Gouverneur, in the county of St. Lawrence and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for \Vashing-"llachines, 'Washtubs, and lVringers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to supports for washtubs, washing-machines, and wringers; and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which is also provided with a drip'receptacle by means of which the water from the wringer and from the clothes or other articles passed therethrough is conveyed back into the tub.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of our improved support, showing also a washtub and wringer connected therewith or mounted thereon; Fig. 2, a perspective View of a dripreceptacle which we employ, and Fig. 3 a perspective view of an attachment by which the drip-receptacle and the wringer are connected with the support.

In the practice of our invention we provide a support which consists of two upright back standards 5, which are provided with arms (5, which are pivotally connected therewith or secured thereto in any desired manner at 7, and the forward ends of said arms are provided with legs 8, which are. pivotally connected therewith and which are also united by means of cross rods or bars 9, and the arms 6 and legs 8 are adapted to be folded adjacent to the upright standards 5, and said arms are adapted to serve as a support for a tub or other vessel 10.

The upper ends of the standards 5 are each provided with an attachment 11, a perspective View of which is given in Fig. 8, and said attachment consists of vertical parallel side plates 12, which are connected by a crossplate 13, and the side plates 12 are provided, below said cross-plate 13, with openings 1+1 for Serial No. 595,120. the reception of bolts or screws by which the attachment is connected with the standards 5, and in connecting the wringer with the attachments the side bars 16 thereof are inserted between the upper ends of the side plates 12 of the attachments, by which the wringer is securely held.

The upper ends of the side plates 12 proj ect inwardly, as does also the cross-plate 13, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, and the inwardlydirected projections 15 of the side plates 12 are connected by a vertical cross-plate 15, with which the cross or bottom plate 13 also connects, and formed in the Vertical crossplate 15 at the lower end thereof, is an open ing 15 through which the water passes inwardly, and another opening is formed about the center of said plate.

The wringer may be of any desired form or construction, and immediately below the rollers 17 thereof and below the side plates 18 is placed a drip-receptacle 19, a perspective view of which is given in Fig. 2, and said drip-receptacle consists of a central longitudinal bottom plate 20, the central portion of which is bent downwardly to form a trough, and the ends of said trough are inclined toward the center, and connected therewith is a pipe 22, which is curved outwardly over the tub or vessel 10, and said trough is provided at each side with vertical side plates 23, from the lower edge of each of which projects downwardly and outwardly a shield or plate 24, and the trough 21 is shorter than the vertical side plates 23 and the shields or plates 24, and in placing the drip-receptacle in position the ends of the trough fit beneath the cross-plates 13 of the attachments 11 and the Vertical side plates23 project at each side of said attachments, and we also provide thumb'screws 25, which are connected with the attachments 11 and which are adapted to hold the drip-1e ceptacle in proper position.

The cross-plates 13 of the attachments 11 project inwardly and downwardly, and when the drip-receptacle is placed in position, as shown in Fig. 1 and as hereinbefore described, all the water that falls into the trough 21, which is directly beneath the rollers 17 of the wringer, flows through the pipe 22 into the tub or vessellO, and the water which falls on the plates or shields 24 on the side of the dripreceptacle adjacent to the tub or receptacle also flows into said tub or vessel, as will be readily understood, and by means of this device almost all the Water Which is wrung from the clothes or other articles passes backwardly into the tub, only a very small portion thereof dropping upon the outer plate 24;.

It will be understood that the arms 6 may be connected with the standards 5 in any desired manner, and the legs 8 may be similarly connected with the arms 6, but we prefer to make this connection in such manner that said legs and said arms may be folded adjacentto said standards, as herei-nbefore described, and it is evident that changes in the form and construction of the drip receptacle orvshield may be made without departing from the spirit of our invention or sacrificing its advantages.

Having fully described our invention, We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination with the herein-described support for washtubs and wringers, of two attachments each having vertical side plates 12 connected by a cross-plate 13, said side plates being provided with openings for attaching bolts or screws by means of which the same are connected with the upper end of the standard 5, the upper ends of said side plates 12 and the cross-piece 13 being inwardly directed, and the side plates 12 being connected by a vertical cross-plate 15 having an open in g 15, and a drip-receptacle 19 consisting of a longitudinal bottom 20 having a central bent portion to form a trough and provided with a pipe 22, said trough having on each side thereof vertical plates 23 from the lower ends of which project the shield-plates 2% whereby surplus water is conveyed to the tub.
