NICHOLAS POlVELL HORTON, OF OWEN SOUND, CANADA.
NAPKlN-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 570,802, dated November 3, 1896.
Application filed December 26, 1895 Serial No. 573,411- (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, NICHOLAS POWELL HORTON, a citizen of Canada, residing at Owen Sound, county of Grey, Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Table-Napkin Holder, (for which I have applied for Letters Patent in Canada on December 4, 1895 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to use the same.
Figure I is a view of the back of the holder, showing a hook or loop A for adjusting over the shirt-collar or collar of waistcoat, as may be desired. 13 B are springs at each end of arms for holding napkin in position when folded over from front and slipped under the springs. The two slots 0 O are for the purpose of letting the napkin in, so that the metal between the slots is exposed on the front, but the two arms carried by the napkin across and over top edges. The shoulders I D D are so shaped to prevent creases in napkin from showing in front.
Fig. 11 is a side View showing hook or loop made of wire and soldered to back of holder.
Fig. III is a side View of one of the springs riveted to holder.
The complete article will be gilt or plated, as desired.
I claim- As a new article of manufacture, a device of the character described, consisting of a body having slots slightly inclined and forming a central tongue on its lower edge, and having an irregular upper edge forming shoulders D, D; springs B, at each end of the body, and a hook secured to the body, as and for the purpose described.
