MOLLY MCQ. FALLON, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
NURSlNG-BOTTLE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 561,877, dated June 9, 1896. Application filed October 14,1895. derial No. 565,534. No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MOLLY McQ. FALLON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamiltn and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nursing-Bottle Hold ers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to nursing-bottle holders. Its object is to provide an economical and reliable device to hold bottles of different sizes ydeldingly in any desired position.
The invention consists in the peculiar arrangement and combination of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, described fully in the specification, and particularly referred to in the claims.
Referring to the drawings, in which like parts are indicated by'similar reference-letters wherever they occur throughout the various views, Figure 1 is a longitudinal elevation of the holder with the bottle in position, looking in the direction of the mouth of the bottle. Fig. 2 is a similar view, but with the parts turned on the axis of the supporting-rod at a right angle to the view shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of the holder, the parts being turned at a right angle around the axis of the bottle, as shown in Fig. 2. Fig. :-i is a detail view in elevation of the locking end of the clampingframe. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the opposite end of the locking-frame, showing its connection to the neck-holder. Fig. 6 is a diametrical section through line 1 1 of Fig. 1. In Figs. 1, 2, 3, and 5 the bottle is shown in dotted line.
The frame of the holder is composed of the sprin g-metal strap A, and the spring-arms A, which cross it at a right angle. The bar A is formed to pass upon one side of the bottle, and has its lower end bent to pass underneath the bottom of the bottle and extend some distance beyond the opposite side. In the bent arm of the springnnetal strap is formed a loop a to bear against the concave bottom of the bottle, and the extended end is notched at a to receive the rod b, to whichis secured the coiled-spring holder 13. The neck-holder C is a ring formed of a coiled spring, to one side of which is secured the upper end of the spring-metal strap A, and diametrically 0pposite from this is secured the hook h, which is secured to one end of the spring-holder B.
To the spring-strap holder A and A is secured at their crossing-point the base of a coiled cone-sprin g D, to the apex of which is secured a spring-metal rod E, which rod is longitudinally and axially adj ustable in the head of the clamp F.
The clamp for securing the bottle-holder to any fixed object consists of a yoke f, through one arm of which is tapped the clampingscrew f and the head f, in which the rod E is clamped. The head f is a cylindrical shell, the edge of Which is provided with semicircular notches to seat the rod E.
f is a washer, and f is a belt which passes through the washer and axially through the bottom or base of the cylindrical shell f and f is a nut upon the end of the bolt f for drawing the washer firmly upon the rod E and clamping the same in any desired position.
Within the cylindrical shell f is a coilspring f, the pressure of which is exerted to separate the Washer and release the rod E when the screw f is turned backward. To adjust the spring-holder rod E around the axis of the bolt or longitudinally with relation to the clamp F, the screw-nut f is turned back to release the rod E, when it may be slipped longitudinally through its bearings in the olamping-head F or turned around and receded in any of the notches to adjust it to the required position.
It will be seen that the spring neck-collar C will adjust itself to bottles of various sizes, as will also the side c1a1nping-arms A. The bottle is inserted in place by passing the neck through the coiled-sprin g collar 0, then pressing the body of the bottle into the embrace of the arms A, and by taking hold of the ring if and expanding the spring-arm B until its neck Z enters the notch a of the extended end of the arm. A the bottle is locked in position.
It is obvious that the spring-rod E and coilspring D may be formed integral instead of in separate parts, as shown, and that other obvious mechanical changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of my invention.
Nhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a nursing-bottle holder, the spring clamping-frame having lateral sprin g-arms to embrace the sides of the bottle, an arm to pass underneath the bottom of the bottle and having a locking-notch at its protruding end, the spring neck-collar secured to the frame, and the spring-holder attached to said collar and having its opposite end adapted to fit in the notch of the protruding arm of the springframe and retain the bottle in position, substantially as shown and described.
2. The combination of the spring clampingframe, means substantially as shown to retain the bottle in said frame, a coil-spring secured to the frame, and the spring-rod se cured to the said spring, substantially as shown and described.
3. The combination, substantially as hereinbefore set forth, of the bottle -,ho1der, a spring -arm connected to said holder, the clamp,F,having aclamping-head,f aspringpressed Washer, f and a bolt and nut for clamping the rod between the washer and head or releasing it'therefrom for the purpose of adjusting the bottle-holding rod longitudinally or axially within the head.
4. The combination, substantially as hereinbefore set forth, of the spring clampingframe, consisting of the spring-metal bar, A, having an arm turned substantially at right angles thereto to pass under the bottle, the extended end of said arm having a lockingnotch formed in it, the lateral clamping-arms, A, to partially embrace the bottle, the coiledspring neck-yoke, 0, attached to the end of the frame-bar, A, the coil-spring holder, 13, attached to the neck-yoke opposite its connection to the bar, A, and having a rod at its lower end to enter a notch in the arm of the frame bar and hold the bottle in position, the cone-spring, D, secured to the clampingframe, the spring-rod, E, secured to the apex of said cone-spring, and the clamp, F, having adjustable clamping-head for the said rod, and the clamping-screw to secure the clamp and holder to a fixed support.
