BODY REST AND SUPPORT FOR CANOPIES.

Be it known that I, EUGENIA V. WAGNER, a citizen ofthe United States,residin g at Drexel, in the county of Pasco and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Body Rests and Supports for Mosquito-Net Canopies; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements, as hereinafter set forth, in body rests and supports for mosquito-net canopies, the object being to produce a device capable of ready application and transportation and also adapted for protecting infants and others in recumbent positions from the attack of insects.

In the drawings, Figure l represents the invention adapted to support and cover an infant or other person in a recumbent position. Fig. 2 represents the base-board or rest upon which the person rests or lies. Fig. 3 represents a side elevation of the upright frame. Fig. 4 represents the application of the device to a crib. Fig. 5 is a detail View.

1 represents the base-board or rest upon which the infant or other person may lie. Upon this foundation-board a suitable cushion or cushions may be placed, as desired, to render the resting comfortable.

2 represents a block or head-piece or strip, which extends upwardly from and also eX- tends 'across the upper end of the base-board 1, said block or strip 2 serving the dual purpose of a raised rest for supporting the cushion 5 in raised position and for forming a bearing upon and along which the canopysupporting frame 3 may be supported and clamped. Knobs or buttons 4 may be secured to the ends of said strip 2, to which knobs 0r buttons tapes or shnilar devices secured to the cushion may be tied to hold said cushion on the board and prevent its slipping down.

The canopy-supporting frame 3, adapted for use in connection with the base-board 1, has at its lower end an integrally-formed rectangular and laterally-extending lipped socket or clip 6 to adapt it to fit over and readily slide along the head-piece 2, said socket or clip being in this form located on the 'front ofv the frame7 and its rear lip 7 havinga threaded transverse bore through which is passed a clamp-screw 8 to adjustably clamp said clip and frame to said head-piece. This frame 3 is of substantially C shape, as shown, with an upwardly-curved top portion a, and has at its upper end a forwardly and upwardly extending socket 9 to receive the depending rod 10 of a parasol or other frame11, over which the netting is thrown, the rear wall of said socket 9 having a threaded transverse bore through which is passed a thumb-screw 12, by which the netting-supporting frame 11 is removably clamped in position on the main frame 3. By thus forming this main or vertical frarne 3 of rearwardly curved or C shape provision is made for the extension over the head-rest or strip 2 of the cushion, as will be readily understood.

In the adaptation of niy vertical canopysupporting frame for connection with a childs crib its lower portion may be of straight vertical shape, as shown at 13, its upper portion curving forwardly, as shown at 14, and then upwardly, as at 15, clip-'sockets being formed in the respective ends of said vertical frame, as in the form already described, with the single exception that in the form as adapted or use on cribs and the like the lower socketclip may be formed so as to extend rearwardly of said frame, as shown at 16.

By curving the vertical canopy-supportin g frame as described and forming thereon end clamp-sockets it is readily attachable to either form of transportable body-supports, such as the base-board resting directly on the floor, in which application children can be laid on the floor in a safe position and protected from insects, or to cribs, or carried from place to place and readily attached to and removed from other supports-as, for instance, the back of a chair or any other vertical support.

It will be observed that the several parts of this device are readily detachable and can be readily transported and placed in and removed from position as desired, and that the device by its portability is adapted for very general use and in a variety of positions and locations.

raised, head-piece of equal Width to and eX- tending up from the upper faee only of said base-board, a substantially C-shaped frame having at its upper end a U-shaped socket and at its lower end a horizontally-extending lipped and U-shaped Clamp-socket the rear lips of said sockets having threaded transverse bores, clamp-screws engaging said bores, and a netting-supporting frame having a depending rod having bearing in the upper socket, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
