Description

No MOdBL) G COMBINED COLLAR BUTTON AND NEGKTIE HOLDER.
N0. 535,040. Patented Mar. 5, 1895;
lnz/eni oz" wzzymsszs .zliiorney urns. wAsHmcToN n c UNITE m re CHARLES S. WVILSON, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO EUGENE G. E. JACCARD, OF SAME PLACE.
COMBINED COLLAR-BUTTON AND NECKTIE-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 535,040, dated March 5, 1895.
Application filed November 19, 1894. Serial No. 529,307. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES S. WILSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Collar- Button and Necktie-Holder, of Which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
[0 My invention relates to a combined collar button and necktie holder, which is particularly adapted for use at the back of the neckband of a shirt.
The object of the invention is to provide a 1; device of this class which can be easily inserted to its place through the button-holes of the collar and the shirt-band and which in this position is easily operated to grasp the neck-tie and securely hold the same in proper position.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate the invention, Figure 1, is a side view of my invention in perspective. Fig. 2, is a View showing a longitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3, is a top plan view, and Fig. 4,
is a view showing the button in use.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5, indicates the circular base to which the shank 6, is rigidly secured at one end. The shoe 7,
0 is hinged upon the other end of the shank and the flat spring 8, bears upon the upturned end of the shank and the shoe thus has the snap or spring action which is common in devices of this class. Soldered or otherwise I secured at one end to the hinged-shoe and preferably to the under side thereof is the shank or stem 9, 0f the clasp. The head 10, of the clasp is hinged to the stem in a manner similar to that by which the hinged shoe is secured to its shank, as will be seen by reference to the drawings, and an arm 11, is soldered or otherwise secured at one end to the head and at its opposite end is provided with angularly disposed teeth 12, which are arranged to bite into the band of the neck-tie which is then clasped between the arm 11, and the stem 9.
Referring now, more particularly to Fig. 4, of the drawings, it will be seen that the ends 13, and 13', of the neck-band of the shirt and the collar 14, are arranged to be held between the base 5, and the shoe 7, while the neck-tie 15, is held outside of and covers the shoe.
In applying my invention, the shoe and the clasp are turned to lie flat as shown in Figs. l and 2, and in this position are inserted through the collar and neck-band. They are then turned to lie parallel to the base, and the neck-tie is inserted in the clasp, all as shown in Fig. 4.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A combined collar button and necktie holder, comprising the base, the shank secured to the base, the shoe hinged to the shank and the claspsecured to the said shoe and movable therewith.
2. A combined collar button and necktie holder comprising the base, the shank secured to the base, the shoe hinged to the shank and arranged to lie either parallel or perpendicular to said base, the stem secured to the shoe, and movable therewith and the clasp hinged to the stem and also movable with the shoe.
3. A combined collar-button and neck-tie holder comprising a base, a shanksecured to the base, a shoe hinged to the shank, a stem secured to the shoe, a head hinged to the stem and an arm secured to the head; substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES S. WILSON.
Witnesses:
KITTIE Runs, MYRTLE WOODLING.
