PLATFORM FOR WOOD-CHOPPERS.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 500,527, dated June 27, 1893.
Application filed April 27, 1892.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOSEPH B. BRICKLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Port Angeles, in the county of Olallam and State of Washington,haveinvented anew and useful Platform for Wood-Choppers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in devices for climbing trees, for the purpose of cutting timber.
The objects of my invention are first to do away with the cutting of holes in large trees, to enable a woodman to climb to a convenmm and advantageous position when cutting timber. To more fully illustrate, the present custom on Puget Sound is to use what is known, as a spring-board, made of wood with a steel shoe, which is placed in the tree after a hole has been cut to receive it. In going up the necessary height to fall a large tree, it requires about eight holes, occupying much time and labor to make, besides being attended with danger to the axemen.
My invention will save both time and labor and be less dangerous. By use of it, one man can accomplish more than two in the same given time. I attain these objects by the Serial No. 430,940. (No model.)

A is the tree.
B is the spring board.
C is a circular iron bar on which B rests. D is also an iron bar, one end of which is driven into the tree, the other is connected with the circular bar 0, the upper hooks E, E and the lower hooks F, F, are also driven into the tree to brace and support the circular bar 0, and the spring board B, the thumb screw. G is a center around which the spring board is moved and by which it is fixed in any required position.
What-I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination inaspringboard for wood choppers, of the standing board B. the circular bar 0, and the driving bar D, with the hooks E, E and F, F, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
