Description

No. 509,632. Patented Nov. 28, 1893.
STATES FRIEDRICH TREIER, OF VIENNA, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
PENHOLDER-REGULATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 509,632, dated November 28, 1893 Application filed February 11, 1893- Serial No. 461,878. (No model.)
.To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH TREIER, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident of .Vienna, Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Penholder-Regulators, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention is a regulator which can be adapted to every penholder and can be adjusted thereon to prevent the entrance of the pen into the ink beyond what is required and thus avoid the objection consequent thereto.
In the drawings: Figure 1, shows the plate from which the regulator is formed. Fig. 2, is all-edge View of the same properly bent to go on a pen holder. Fig. 3, is a side view of the same. Figs. 4, 5 and 6 are similar views to 1, 2 and 3 of a modified form of regulator. Fig. 7, shows how the regulator may be inserted in the end of a pen holder and Fig. 8, is a side view of the same, the holder being partly broken away.
The invention consists broadly of a sheet metal plate having rods or arms stamped therefrom to strike against the mouth of the ink bottle, said plate being bent into cylindrical form to fit on the pen holder.
Referring to Fig. 1 the plate m is provided with two linear cuts 7?. to form the rods while the ends of the plate are bent around to form the cylinder. The upperedge of the cylinder may be made slightly rounded to improve the shape, if desired, as shown in dotted lines Fig. 4.
In order to increase the grip of the cylin der h, I may as in Figs. 4, 5 and 6 provide spring tongues a in the plate on the free ends of which are bent inwardly a little within the inner wall of the cylinder itself.
It is possible to-use as shown in Figs. 6 and 7, a cylinder h adapted to be inserted into the central opening of the pen holder, the penf being inserted between the cylinder and the outer wall of the pen holder.
I claim 1. A regulator for pen holders formed from a Hat metal plate having arms 25, t, stamped therefrom, the main body of the plate being bent into cylindrical form while the arms 25, t, are left straight to form laterally extending arms extending in the same plane, substantially as described.
2. An adjustable regulator for pens consisting of the sheet metal plate having arms 15 stamped therefrom and the tongues z, z, stamped from the body of the plate which is bent into cylindrical form, the said tongues extending slightly within the cylindrical body substantially as described.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
FRIEDRICH TREIER.
