LEGGIN.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 498,279, dated May 30, 1893. Application tiled November 16, 1892. Serial No. 452.134. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Beit known that I, BEN LYONS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pantaloons-Protectors; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention is a pantaloons legprotector; and consists in the novel construction and arirangement of its parts.

The protector is made of any tleXible Water-proof material.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l, shows a human leg and foot, with my protector applied. Fig. 2, shows a human leg and foot, with my protector applied, but having the flaps thrown back, in order to show the applicationof the garter. Fig. 3, is a view of the protector with the. flaps thrown back.

My invention is described as follows:

A, is the leggin which is closed at its lower end and for some distance up the leg.

a, is a strap connected to the lower part of the overall, and passes under the shoe, toV

keep the overall down to its place.

b, is a garter, sewed or otherwise secured near its middle portion to the inside of the overall, near its top end, having the ends thereof free. Said garter is provided with proper fastenings, ol, and is made of some elastic material.

c, c, are the flaps, so that the top part of the leggin may be easily slipped on.

d, d, are straps and buckles, and e, e, are

straps. These straps and buckles are securedl to the flaps, to secure the overall around the leg and over the pantaloons.

My protector is applied as follows: Thev pantaloons, B, are drawn up some distance, and folded around the leg, the bottoms of them coming just a little below the calf. The protector is then slipped on, and the garter, b, buckled around the leg, over the pantaloons, and above the calf. The flaps of the protector are then secured. around the pantaloons and leg, by means of the straps, @,and straps and buckles, CZ.

YIdornot conne myself to any particular fastenings. The garter, b, and the straps, d, e, may be secured by any fasteners. My garter, b, holds the pantaloons leg up, some distance above the shoe-top, binding it around the leg just above the calf, so that it can not slip down, and at the same time holds the protector up in place, so that it can not slip down.

The straps and buckles, d, and straps, e, reinforce the oflice of the garter.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A pantaloons protector consisting of the leggin A, closed at its lower end, the bottom strap a, inside garter b, sewed near its middle portion to the inside of the leggin at the top, leaving its ends free, the fastenings, flaps c, straps e, and straps and fasteners d, substantially as shown and described and for the purposesset forth.
