DIE-STOCK OILER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 487,847, dated December 13, 1892.

i To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE LE SUEUR LE VESCONTE, of Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a certain Improved Die-Stock Oiler, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to means for conveniently and easily oiling lie-stocks, and especially to means contained in the stock whereby the oiling may be done effectively and neatly; and the object of the invention is to provide an oiling device in connection with one of the handles of the stock.
To this end my invention consists in the combination, with the die-stock, of an oil-reservoir carried thereon and from which the oil is fed to the die yand the threads being cut thereby, and especially in a particular form of oiler arranged in connection with the diestock handle.
As shown in the drawing accompanying this specicatiomin which the figure is a vertical longitudinal sectional View, 2 represents the body of the die-stock, having the cavity 3 to receive the die-block, which is fastened therein in any convenient manner. On each side of the body of the stock is a boss 5, adapted to receive the end of the hollow han-Y dle 6, which is screwed into the same. The opening is made clear through the boss into the cavity 3, and into this opening projects the nose or nozzle 7, screwed into the sleeve 8, which in turn is fastened in the handle by an internal thread in the end thereof. vThe sleeve is provided with an annular shoulder 9 on its outer end, with which a small valvedisk 10 is adapted to engage. This disk is held against its seat on the inside of the shoulder 9 by the coiled spring ll,\rsurrounding the stud 12, made on the disk. The outer end of the handle is closed by a plug 13, screwed into the same and provided with a stuftingbox 14, su rroundingthe push-pin l5.- The rod 1G has its inner end fastened in the center of the disk 10 and its outer end loosely held in the cupped end 1'7 of the pin l5. To iill the hollow handle with oil the screw-plug must be removed and the oil poured into the handle. Vhen the plug is taken out, the pushpiu is also removed and the rod 16 is held centrally in place by the spider 19, provided on the inside of the handle, as shown. On replacing the plug the cupped end of the push-pin slips over the end of the rod 16 and then by forcing in the pin with the thumb of the hand the valve may be opened to permit the oil to i'low out on the duct or nozzle end ot' the handle and upon the under side of the die-block and thence down upon the uncut part of the bolt or pipe.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination, with the body and the handle ofa diestock, of a valve contained in the inner end thereof, a nozzle or duct to lead the oil therefrom to the die,l the closed outer end ofthe handle, and a pin projecting through the same and connected with said Valve to operate the same, substantially as described.
. 2. The combination of the body andV the handle of a die-stock, with a sleeve 8, arranged in the inner end thereof and having a nozzle adapted to deliver the oil upon the die, a valve arranged in said sleeve, a Spring therein to hold the said valve against its seat, a plug in the outer end of the handle, a push-pin therein, and a rod 16 extending between said pushpin and said valve, substantially as described, and for the purpose specified.
