SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 470,458, dated March 8, 1892.
Application filed March 7, 1891.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEROME I. VOGELER, of Baltimore, Maryland, have invented certain Improvements in Bottlesmf which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a bottle intended especially for perfumery, which is adapted after the contents are exhausted to be used as a toy lantern, as will hereinafter fnlly ap pear.
In the description of the said invention which follows reference is made to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof, and in which Figure 1 is an exterior elevation of the improved bottle, and Fig. 2 a sectional elevation of the same.
In the said drawin gs, A represents the body of the bottle, which is of glass,preferablycolcred, and in the shape of a lantern, there being bars a molded on the exterior surface to represent the ordinary wire guard-bars. The bodyA is open at the top and bottom and provided with removable stoppers D and E, preferably of cork.
The upper end of the bottle is exteriorly threaded, and on it is screwed a perforated cap F, which represents the head of a lantern. The lower edge of this cap is provided with a flange b, to which the bail G is attached. The lower end of the body A is also threaded, as shown, and over it is screwed the perforated base H, which corresponds in shape with the base of a lantern.

To support the illuminating-taper, the base H is furnished with a cross-bar d, having a socket c, as shown in full lines in Fig. 2'; but this bar and its socket may be placed above the lower edge of the base, as shown in dotted lines. The base II is perforated to admit air to the lighted taper after the manner of a lantern.
The object of screwing the cap and base to the body A is to admit of the ready removal of the corks as a preparatory step toward adapting the bottle as a lantern; but any other means of effecting their attachment may be employed without affecting the character of the invention.
