GEORGE F. PEOR, OF NEXV YORK, N. Y.
CUF-'F QR SLEV UTTON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 470,411, dated March 8, 1892. Application le February 24, 189,1- Serlal No. 382,5546 (No model.)
'To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. Pack, of the city and county of New York, in the State of invented a new and useful A Cuit or Sleeve Buttons, of which thetollowing is a specification, reference being had to the' accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to buttons especially applicable for V,attaching cuffs to the Wristbands of shirts in the case where link cu' l-buttons are used at the outer ends of the cuffs, the object of the invention being to att-ach the two edges of. the cuff separately to the two ends of the Wristband and `to hold apart the portionot said edges so attached as to make them conform to the position of the portions Improvement in Vwhich are held by the link-button.
I will now proceed to describe my invention with reference to the drawingsandthen point out the novel features in the claim. y
Figure l is 'a view in perspective of a cuff secured to a shirt-sleeve b va button embodying my improvement. Fig. 2 is a view in cross-section through the same. Figs. 3 and. 4 are face and side views of the blank from which myimproved button may be struck up. Figs. 5 and are side and end views ofothe saine during process of manufacture. Figs. 7 and 8 are side and end views ot the button completed.
Similar letters of reference designate cor- `responding parts in all the figures.
In the drawings, A designates a cuff, l5 the sleeve ofa shirt, and b the Wristband there- At'the front end the two edges of the construction, the link allowing the edges of the cuff, as is usual, to come slightly apart, as at d.
l designates my improved button (shown 4more clearly in detail in Figs. 7 and 8) as having a curved central portion or base e and two stud-like terminal portions .or heads eA pro-- jecting from opposite ends thereof, the said 1 outward from said shoulders,
or Shanks e2, between which and the base e fthere are shoulders e. The stud-like terminal .portions or heads are adapted to be passed through the button-holes in the Wristband, :as also through those in the opposite end of the cuff to where the link is, leavingvthe necks e2 in the button-holes and leaving the' latter conlined between the heads e and the shoulderss of the base e, the said heads and shoulders thus holding those portions of the edges ofthe cuff which are attached to the Wristband at about the same distance asat d, as before described. i y
In Fig. 3 is shown a blank from which the stud may be struck, thereby makingpthe cost f of manufacture very small.
'Branching from opposite ends of the central portion e are twocontracted portions e2.
`e2 to form the necks, surmounted by head-like portions e3 e3; As shown in Figs, 5 and (inthe edges e are first curved .slightly downward and then, as shown in Figs. 7 and 8, the necks e2 are then bent upward from the shoulderss .at an angle to the central portion to throw up the heads and the central portion is curved` in the direction of its length to accommodate V itself to the curve of the cliff and wristbantl. The use of my invention will obviate thel necessity of having, when` a link is used for the front end, to lap the edges of the cuff one over the other vwhen attaching it to the wrist band or else of attaching only one edge thereto, and will enable any ordinary or reversible eui to Abe used with a link sleeve-button.
What I claim as of my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A cult" or sleeve button consi portion, shoulders formed thereon, terminal heads and necks uniting the said heads with the shoulders of the body portions and bent substantially as set forth. GEORGE F. PEOR.
Witnesses:
FRE-DK. HAYNns, GEORGE BARRY.
