Description

( No Model.) 7
H. W. CHASE. DOOR SEGURER.
No. 463,226. Patented Nov 17, 1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY \V. CHASE, OF IVITTENBERG, WISCONSIN.
DOOR-SECURER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 468,226, dated November 17, 1891.
Application filed August 15, 1891- Serial No. 402,729. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY WV. CHASE, a citizen of the United States, residing at WVittenberg, in the county of Shaw-ano and State of WVisconsin, have invented a new and useful Door-Securer, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in door-securers.
The object of the present invention is to provide a simple, strong, and inexpensive door-securer adapted to be readily carried and capable of being conveniently and quickly applied to adoor and of preventing the same being opened by force from the exterior.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a door-securer constructed in accordance with this invention and shown applied to a door. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the lever being raised. Fig. 3 is an elevation showing the parts folded for carrying.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates a plate or casing adapted to fit against a door and provided at its lower end with a lip 2,arranged to fit in the crank at 'the bottom of the door and provided at its the casing 5. The brace 5 is designed to engage the tloor to prevent the door being forced open, and the lever at, by being U-shaped-* that is, having the longitudinal openingand tapering in thickness, is enabled to lie flat against the brace and form with it a straight brace to prevent the door being forced open. WVhen the lever 4 is raised, the straight brace is broken, and the brace 5 has its upper end lifted and it is withdrawn from engagement with the floor. The outer or lower end of the brace is enlarged and is provided with a series of teeth 9 to enable it to readily engage the floor.
It will be seen that the device is simple, strong, and durable, is adapted to be conveniently carried, andis capable of being readily'applied to a door and of preventing the latter being forced inward.
What I claim is 1. A door-securer comprising a plate provided at its lower end with a lip adapted to fit in the crank at the bottom of the door, a lever having one end fulcrumed on the plate, and a brace having its outer end adapted to engage the floor and having its inner end pivoted to the lever, substantially as described.
