To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, CHARLES LEMBKE, of the city, county, and State of N ewYork, have invented new and useful Improvements in Eyeglasses, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The invention relates, particularly, to that class of eyeglasses in which the nose-pieces are pivotally supported from the frame in order that they may adjust themselves to the nose of the wearer.

The object of the present invention is to provide for readily securing the nose-pieces in the adj usted position, and thus maintain them permanently in proper adjustment.

To this end the invention consists in the novel construction herein described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a front view of a pair of eyeglasses embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section on line 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view on a larger scale showing the nose-piece and its supportingarm and clamping devices, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the supportingarms and its clip.

Having thus described my invention, whatI claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The combination, with an eyeglass-frame, of clips supported therefrom and nose-pieces secured to said clips by a pivotal connection and provided with clamping-screws, in addition to the pivots, for maintaining the nosepieces in the adjusted position, substantially described.

2. The combination, with an eyeglass-frame having ofiset-arms, of clamp-plates acting in conjunction therewith to form clips, nosepieces secured to said clips by pivots, and clamping-screws serving to bind the nosepieces in any position to which they may be adjusted on their pivots, substantially as described.

3. The combination,with an eyeglass-frame having offset-arms 61, said arms terminating at their free ends in bends d clamp-plates f, forming clips in connection with said ends (1 nose-pieces 6, having braces e at the back, pivots g, passing through the said clips and braces, and clamping-screws h, substantially as described.

4. As a new article of manufacture, a pair of eyeglasses having nose pieces pivoted thereto and provided with clamping-screws additional to the pivots and serving to prevent movement of the nose-pieces on said pivots,substantially as described.
